First AP

My first Royal Oak. I’ve always been a Rolex guy and have a couple datejusts, a sub and a 41mm day date. I got this from a local reseller. 32k cdn. Something is just bothering me about the purchase. Any input would be appreciated thanks.

Assume it’s the 15400?

Some of the baton dial markers look odd, but could be the picture.

Just the weight seems odd. Everything I’ve read online says 171-173g and this is 163g.

First glance it looks a bit off to me. Lets see a close up of the dial without the glare and the back.

Go on AP website and register the watch using the warranty card and case serial number. If it gets registered then you should have genuine piece. Good luck

If you post some good quality movement pics with the rotor in different positions that should help alleviate any concerns on authenticity of the mechanism

It’s always a matter of buying the seller. Why spend several thousand on a watch that you’re not 100% on, unless you can afford to take that risk?

But not really sure about a new poster coming on here with NO details about his concerns. ‘Bout ready to tune out on this one.

Not hard to scroll up and see that my concern is about the weight.

I afraid to say this is not a genuine 15400. The balance wheel of Cal.3120 located at 4 o'clock position if you look at it from the back.

Just buy from a boutique. Always better for the first watch of a brand IMO.

Your first ever post is telling a guy that his watch is fake?

Sorry no offence. I’m new to here and it’s my first post indeed. Hello gentlemen, happy to join the group and meet you all.

The reason I stated the fact that the balance wheel position might be possibly wrong is I’ve seen a similar post from other forum doubting the balance wheel position in a ROO diver.

I’m not a expert on examining the authenticity of any watches. I am just saying what I observed from the AP website and compare to the picture provided from the tread.

Cheers,

Huh. Read the thread and missed that one. Apologies.

Still, seems like the weight concern would have been worth mentioning in first post.

Anyways, hope it’s genuine, OP.

Something is up with the movement orientation, perhaps it could just be the back plate. Need to see the rotor in another position and where the crown is from the reverse.

If it’s a fake, it’s much better than the last rip-off 3120 I saw on here in someone’s Diver.

If you judge by the lettering on the case back, it looks like the wheel is at 9 o'clock, while on a genuine 3120 movement, the wheel is at 3 o'clock

This is why I wonder if the backplate is 180 degrees reversed. But need to see where the crown is positioned.

In any event it’s a sure sign someone other than AP has had the watch open.

If the watch is a fake then it’s extremely good, the bezel screws look like white gold and the rotor looks like real gold too. IF the watch is fake then it demonstrates how important it is to only buy from either an AD or a boutique, IMO.

Do you know how many bracelet links are missing ?

Post some more movement photos with the rotor in different angles and showing the crown position in relation. That will help determine things

This watch looks genuine to me maybe the 3 links missed caused that weight “issue”

what do you think of the brush finish on the bezel? It may be caused by the picture quality, but I find it difficult to notice those crisp vertical brushed lines you would normally see on an AP RO.

I'm sorry to say but I think its a fake, a good fake. The movement is completely misaligned. I know the quality of the photos aren't that good but it looks off also, something about it rubs me wrong but the movement should have the bridge along the 7 o'clock side. There should be one line of text for the serial number on the bottom.
