Tudor Snowflake-What do you think?
Hi guys,
Looking for your wise advice. Have been offered this Tudor snowflake. No papers, just the watch. What is your opinion? Any idea on how much would be the right price? Appreciate every input! luciano |

Beautiful, but you really need to see the numbers on the case and what is inside.
it is likely a 9411. you need to see which movement it has. check the serial number and the way REGISTERED DESIGN is typed. no 'long E' is acceptable. there are tons of fake cases. get a pic of the dial and make sure the ' = ' is clear and centered above the 'A' in submariner. |

looks like a 1981 and should have a signed 2784 movement inside. the band could even be original, but i am not sure. its very very nice. i suspect he must be asking a solid 2800-3200 for this.
go look at the price of a new no-date sub at an AD. if it checks out OK, its a great watch and you will love it. speak to the seller and tell him that you plan to take it to a rolex dealer to check the movement and redo the tube and the seals of the caseback. he should be ok with this. |

Looks Good, get it to a watchmaker and look under the hood, if its o.k jump on it, these are beautiful timepieces and hard to find. However, its a Tudor, dont pay Rolex Sub money for it. (unless you can't live without it)

Looks just like mine, and my serial is very close. Your caseback is just like mine also.
I'm not sure why, but at some point the flat part of the caseback on yours and mine is more centered and the diameter is smaller. Other examples of these Snowflakes around the same period have casebacks where the diamater of the flat part is much larger, and goes right up to the edge of the wording on the caseback. Wondering what the experts can say about this. Maybe this should be a seperate post? |

big ben, i agree with your view on the price of a tudor sub. if a GMT 16750 can be had for 3800-4k; then paying this money for a tudor seems a bit excessive. mind you, i think that the ratio of GMTsto snowflakes has to be a 100:1. i guess it depends if the demand is there. i hope tudor re-releases the snowflake in the coming years.

Hello again,
Some more pics. The guy does not know how to oopen the case, so no pictures from the movement. Guy is asking 4k. Too much in my opinion. I will try 3k. Let's see... thanks for all inputs!! luciano |

4k is crazy for this nice watch. If I were spending between 3-4k I would look for an original matt dial 16800 sub. I had a beautiful example a couple of years ago and traded it, worst mistake I ever made!

at 4k, he is not a seller he's a collector. if he wants to sell it, it wont happen at that price. max value for it is $3200 imo (2600 head, 600 band). you are literally better off buying one on ebay for half the price. even if it needs tons of work , you will be way ahead. harry
