What is the best 36mm Rolex daily beater?

I would really like to know what the members thought of the title. I am on the search for a 36mm beater, and would be so grateful for some input.. thank you!!

Anyone with a fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. It will show far less scratches.

The obvious answer is EXP I ... BUT my beater, for a while, was a 36mm DJ TT - The Jubilee hides scratches better than anything and the thing is insanely versatile.

The EXP is my favorite watch of all time though.

Day Date obviously! The name itself suggests - Day and date for each day of the week.

Explorer I all day - but also works well with a black tie. unless you need a date, which a black datejust also works well as a beater.

I don’t relate to the “beater” term, but as a daily, the OP or Explorer fly under the radar

Explorer 1, OP 36, or Date-Just.

It's presumptuous that day-date is not boring.

A Day Date is hardly a beater…. OP, you need this, though I don’t consider it a beater, either.

I have both a 36mm Explorer and Datejust Fluted Jubilee and if I could only keep one as a daily, I would probably choose the DJ36. It has a little extra flash and feels a bit more special, but can still be dressed up or down to fit the purpose:)

But if you can't swing that Id go for a DJ on Jub with a Fluted Bezel.
The 36 mm Exp is a nice watch but I own 8 Rolex Watches and the Exp is not one of them.
I mostly daily wore a 36 mm DJ for probably 15 years before I started adding more watches to the hoard.

Even though I own a vintage Explorer I still can not commit to making it a beater. You should consider the Black Bay 36. It would be a great beater. It looks good on leather or Nato, has the cool smiley face on the dial and is reasonably priced.

Not sure about the comments around hiding scratches. Why hide them?

Explorer 36mm gets my vote. It's a perfect watch.

If a true beater, I went with the 39mm Explorer MK II. That’s the purpose, if working around the house, or at the place in the country, it’s what I wear. Just last weekend hit the bracelet on some cinderblock edges. Put some minor scratches on it, no big deal. Have already scraped up the crystal edge. No big deal, because it’s a true beater watch.
Have my others to wear when out and about and I want to wear something nice.

Any of the 36mm models work really.

Having had the the OP and Exp I, albeit in 39mm, along with an older 5 digit 36mm DJ (oyster smooth bezel) I would go with a DJ for an everyday watch. I find date useful, so that's part of it. Have to be okay with the polished surfaces getting scratched up, but I don't mind that really.

The explorer 1 seems smaller in the wrist than others 36 mm Rolex watches. I do not know why

I’d say Explorer but I love everyone saying a 36 DD. That is a bad-ass answer. Respect.

When it comes to 36mm Rolex daily beaters, a popular choice is the Rolex Datejust. It's versatile, reliable, and looks great for everyday wear.

It’s true. It wears smaller than my OP 36.
