The 116610LV has a stunning dial, the other doesn’t.

I have a Hulk but honestly think the Cermit or Starbucks is a nicer looking watch as I find the Hulk too blingy and wear it by far the least of all my subs.

Just as an aside I’d rather buy a GO Panomaticlunar with the green dial over the Starbucks to be honest.

It depends ... I had two Hulks and loved them both. Now have the new 12Kermit and love it very much.

Hulk - since green is in (always was for me, my favorite color), you can't get more green than the bezel and sunburst dial ... makes this watch special. Honestly, I see this one going through the roof in value in coming years.

12Kermit - still has the green accent bezel, but toned down by the black dial, which you could say is lazy on Rolex, but might appeal to more people that full on green. I really do like the new 41mm proportions, especially the wider bracelet and tapered lugs ... feels very modern and sturdy while providing 5 digit sub shape / integration.

Both are extremely well made with very useful Glidelock clasps.

If I had to choose one to live with day in and day out, it would be the 12Kermit. If I could only have one stickered up safe queen as an investment, I'd choose Hulk for sure, but if its preowned, I would wear the heck out of the Hulk and love it as I have in the past.

the hulk, because it got both the black and green dial depending on the angle you see it.

kermit for me. Used to have a hulk but never a fan of too green. Kermit bezel really pops with black dial.

Starbucks or Hulk ? and why?

I always liked the original 50th anniversary 16610LV compared to the 116610LV.

As much as I like green, I don’t like the sunburst green dial on the 116610LV. Which is odd because I usually prefer more striking colors on a watch. I also like the proportions of the 126610 a little better than the older model but it’s such a minor difference.

So naturally I prefer the 126610LV as it’s a modern variant. Just trying to convince myself not to get one because I already have a GMT and don’t really need another similar looking watch in the collection.

In my opinion, the Starbucks is superior in nearly every way. The main advantage of the Hulk is the green dial, but this does not match the bezel. Meanwhile, the Starbucks has a superior case profile, movement, and crystal with anti-reflective coating.

I guess it all depends on what people really value but to me the advantages of the Starbucks outweigh the Hulk.

Why do ppl talk about dial not matching bezel? In what world do any sunburnt dials match the bezel??? Lol what a joke

Aluminum bezels on the 5-digits shine in a manner similar to sunburst dials. Had the 116 been a flat green like the WG 116619 it would have been a better watch IMO.

That's exactly what people are saying they don't like - that the sunburst dial (beautiful in its own right) is aesthetically very different to the flat colour of the bezel (which is also beautiful in it's own right). Same as with the 126613LB.

Aesthetic preference - nothing more. Some people like the clash, others don't. I'm the latter.

It’s not an aesthetic clash tho… it’s various shades on green, a clash would be like if the bezel were hot pink.

I get what you’re saying but by your logic then there should never be PCLs. And bracelets should be all the same color as the dial. Because on the said watch two shades of green is a clash then where do we stop from there?

The best dressed ppl know how to use different colors and similar colors with different shades aesthetically. Aesthetics can definitely be met with more than one color

The popularity of a Rolex watch is not related to its technical specs but to its looks, uniqueness, and rarity...

Brutal... Like putting the oyster bracelet on the GMT(eviscerating the WG) and killing any unique interest in the original batman.

I don't think there's much call for a green dial sub again. Something should have happened for the explorer II... but alas nothing. So who knows!

Unfortunately, most only see these watches on the net but don’t have a chance to witness/wear in real life. In real life the Hulk can be a bit too much. Almost like it’s trying too hard. Where’s the new Kermit is classically beautiful (as all new Subs are) but with that emerald green accent/pop that gives a “Je ne sais quoi.”

Both are spectacular pieces … one a little more in your face and the other more subdued with a pop to it. As I started this post, my preference would be based on how I would use it.

I actually think the opposite. In most lighting and angles the hulk dial is close to black, so could be confused for the starbucks. But if you get a direct look or glancing flash, it's spectacularly deep green. It's a tasteful colorful watch, while pictures do make it look gaudy because nobody ever does pictures where the dial color is not apparent.

I originally thought the starbucks was more versatile with the black dial. But the reality is the dial of the hulk in indoor lighting tends towards black and is so much fun to look at in different lighting, this really isn't a competition, they are both incredible, but the hulk dial is undoubtedly the best dial in my entire collection.

The 126610LV is “just” a black Sub Date with a green bezel insert.

The 116610LV is the special one with the dial. Oh, and the dial is gorgeous.

Either way, nice watches.

Although the new reference has the svelte case and bracelet, the Hulk has the captivating dial.

Hulk, because a sunburst green dial, and green ceramic bezel Submariner will always be special in the Rolex historical lineup. The sunburst green dial looks black, or dark green most of the time indoors, and when you step outside in the sun you see the beautiful sunburst green dial.
