Rolex for proposal

Does it sound crazy? Am about to propose to my gf and i'm really toying with the idea to get a Rolex instead of the cliche diamond ring to propose. What do you guys think of either a 116234 black roman dial or 116250 black dial?

I agree...big mistake. Get a ring : )
Even if she's a watch nut I still don't think it would fly.

Girls like rings buddy, end of. How else do they show off they are engaged, not by a watch for sure.

There is no way you should do that. At the very least you'll end up proposing with the Rolex and then going off to buy the ring after that when you realise the error of your ways haha. Take it from me, who is recently engaged and has spent a significant amount of time shopping for rings. She wants the Diamond.
As has been said already, how will she feel when all of her friends are asking to see her ring and showing off their own?
The way my fiancé was talking about diamonds and rings I know that had I given her something else, while she might still have said yes, deep down she would have been devastated

Now, you could do what I did and purchase yourself a Rolex as a reminder of the event haha.

If you don't give her a ring, she'll give you the finger.

Being that this thread was from 2015, I am curious what you did (assume ring) and since, have you purchased a Rolex for her?

Ever float this idea to her after the fact? Curious her take on it?

Also, for future marital harmony, never fall for the "Oh, I don't want anything for my birthday this year" trap.
