Jubilee V oyster bracelet on the New GMT black/grey?

What are peoples preferences on the new GMT, I’m really torn between Oyster and Jubilee on this one! :-/

Jubilee for looks, oyster for durability. Don't think about today. Look at 10+ year old (and worn) watches with each style of band. I'm not speaking of finishing the band, I'm talking about how the integrity has held up.

The Jubilees kind of fall apart and look like overcooked pasta. The oysters look good.

Depends on what you want. If this will be worn every day, think it over. If this is more of a special occasion watch, either should do.

Modern solid link Jubilees won't wear out the way some old folded link jubilees will.

You can find old Oysters that are just as bad.

The key issue with the oyster versus the jubilee is contact with the screws and pins. On the oyster, there are three points of contact in the link and if you look down the barrel, it looks to be one solid tube (of course not thinking of the old fold-over oyster bracelets).

On the jubilee, there is one screw and two pins, and the links hang off of them. They need to be hollow just by the nature of what they are. Apples to apples, I would expect this to wear faster.

I hear what you are saying.

If you lined up the jubilee links it too would look like one solid tube too. The're not hollow. See below.

The Jubilee pins are 1.3mm versus the 1.7mm of the Oyster. The links and pins are made of the same material and will wear at the same rate however.

Yes the Jubilee has more entry/trap points for dirt but a regularly cleaned and properly fitted (ie not too loose) modern jubilee should last just as well as a modern oyster

They fixed that jubilee problem years ago.

I’ve registered for the Jubilee as I want something with this bracelet in my collection but really quite like the look of it on an oyster compared to the others in the GMT range

Speaking for myself would rather have 16710 GMT a very versatile watch get all 3 inserts then 3 different watches for the price of one plus get the oyster and jubilee bracelet's.

That’s the ticket.

But if you have to choose:jubilee. For this watch it would look too much like a Sub Date on oyster, even with the PCLs (which scratch, jubilee doesn’t. )

The Oyster is not uncomfortable but the wearing comfort of the Jubilee is in another league.

I really like the jubilee and it has several advantages IMHO:

It shows less signs of wear namely scratches. It’s silky smooth and comfortable. I find it vents the wrist better on hot days.

As for durability, the modern jubilee bracelets are built like a tank. I’d have no issues wearing one daily if that were my thing

I wish Rolex would be more opinionated like blue black and grey black only on oystet and blue red and green black only on jubliee. Because it's not like you can order it. You're stuck with whatever is being offered. And I think up to half the folks will still buy if it's on the wrong bracelet if that's the color they want.

At W&W. I saw this as well in the Hodinkee coverage. Rolex volunteered that the bracelets can be ordered independently for this watch.

To answer the original question, Jubilee on this black and gray looks so sleek and sexy. Imagine this watch paired with a tuxedo!!

I prefer Jubilee, even though I find cleaning/polishing* it a chore (in between all those links!).
