Icon4 Someone is trying to impersonate me...

Please be aware that an unscrupulous scammer contacted a member regarding his WTB post claiming to be me. He referenced my positive feedback in the "who's who" section and provided the would-be buyer with an email with my name in it. Thankfully the buyer cross referenced me with one of the individuals who posted feedback for me who then sent me a text and disaster was averted.

Please be wary of direct emails, and perhaps wary of posting your email in a public thread, because if your first contact from me isn't through TRF private messaging it not me.

And as always, kudos to a good chain of communication between TRF members. We are a community and this is our strength.

Been a lurker on the forum for a bit now and just recently created an account to let Beau know about the situation he laid out above.

Real shame that someone would be trying to use someone else's positive reputation in order to scam someone out of several thousand dollars but as always, do your due diligence and buy the (actual) seller.

That being said, happy to help spread the word and really hoping this stranger isn't successful in the future.

Glad you guys posted this info. I'm pretty new to this forum so the advice helps tremendously when thinking about how to authenticate the actual people contacting you.

This isn't just a garden variety scammer, he's a hacker sending hyperlinks to spoofed login pages for various sites within the community. A week ago this same Nigerian hacker registered at WUS under usernames beaureguard, beauregard4, and beauegard, as well as hUTNS, high.watches, milanomaka, dargonuse, Totalrolfreak, Jelly-pete, brian2502, Soulful, AXEMEN777, gideonturner00, and Adam_Micheal.

Here's a warning from one of the members: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f63/bea...l#post45178917

Before clicking on any hyperlink be sure to hover your cursor over the link until the URL appears. If the link isn't going to where it is supposed to (make sure the web site is spelt properly) DO NOT click on it.
