Help with watch selection to compliment Pepsi

I just purchase the new 2021 GMT II Pepsi on Jubilee via grey market and am having second thoughts if I should have gotten the new Batman on Oyster instead from a versatility standpoint. The Pepsi is amazing, but find it slightly less so with suits vs casual and based on forums, pics, think the Batman would have been better all around. I plan on buying a second watch, and was originally thinking the new black 41 sub date to compliment it, but debating if I should flip the Pepsi for the Batman as well. Does anyone own both GMTs and have a strong opinion on which gets the most wrist time or faced a similar dilemma? I’ve read the threads on preference, but seems most people don’t actually own both of these. Or should I just get the Batman as the second watch and forget the sub? Ideally looking for input from people that own all of these pieces.

100% personal preference but it sounds like to me in your post youre trying to talk yourself into loving the pepsi as much as you thought you would but youre just not. You may get the batman and feel the same way id try and get a batman on your wrist before switching over to it or adding it you may end up with another watch that isnt quite the one for you.

Totally agree with this.

I have the exact same model, Pepsi jubilee, and can assure you it’s plenty versatile. Works as well in shorts and t-shirt as it does in office attire. Perhaps it just doesn’t fit you as well as you thought it would.

Agree entirely with this assessment.

To answer your question OP, I do have both. Pepsi on jubilee and Batman on oyster. I find the pepsi flashier with its blend of red/blue and the blingy jubilee. The batman on oyster, lets be honest, has been around for quite some time, we’ve all seen it in the wild and its no shocker anymore. Furthermore, it’s decidedly more utilitarian on oyster, less blingy.

I also have subs, again I don’t see much difference In wearability between subs and gmts. The sprinkling of color on the batman and pepsi sometimes allows for dress color matching I guess. For instance I wouldn’t wear a brightly colorful bezeled or dialed watch with say an all black outfit. Likewise, I wouldn’t wear a sports watch with formal attire. Possibly one Rolex that successfully crosses into all dress code genres is the Daytona.

For suits though I wouldn’t wear either watch (thats just me) nor would I wear a sub.

I own both the 116710BLNR and 126710BLRO and love them as a pair. The BLRO is definitely more vibrant/lively whereas the BLNR feels more cool and sporty, but I find both pieces pretty versatile, they both get similar wrist time but I'd say BLNR has a slight edge since BLRO is relatively more bling.

I'm a t-shirt/shorts & jeans type of guy and I almost never wear dress shirts/suits but I'm sure even if I do, both pieces will do just fine. I also own the 116610LN and with its brushed center link it is more restrained/reserved compared to the BLNR. I usually wear the Sub as my weekday work watch and I slap on the GMTs in the evenings or weekends or when I go out. It ultimately boils down to what your preferences are but for me I'd keep the BLRO and add the BLNR on Oyster.

I own both BLNR and BLRO on jubilee. Prefer the BLRO by far in comparison. Stick with the original GMT!

Give the Pepsi a few weeks. You may realize you love it. It’s an awesome watch that I’ve found can definitely be very versatile. Either a BLNR or a Sub would be great additions. Daytona even better ;)

Nice reply and definitely agree with you.
You have the “Dynamic Duo” of GMT’s!

Consider getting a 116710LN, an all black GMT if you want a watch that goes with everything.

One of those new Explorers or an Air King would go great with your more formal attire while still keeping things interesting.

I have both and love them equally. Keep BLRO and save more money and go for Sky D. Blue dial.

I own both the BLRO and the BLNR on Jubilee and have a Submariner-C ND. I like both of the GMT's and think the Jubilee bracelet is great. I would keep what you have and pick up the Submariner to offer some balance between the two. You can never go wrong with a Submariner and while they may not be as sexy as a GMT or Daytona they are a cornerstone of any serious Rolex collection. Wear your GMT and give it some serious wrist time and decide if you want to move away from it from there. A problem of riches to even own the watches that we do. Good luck and keep us posted on what you decide.

I would say submariner to go along with your Pepsi on jubilee. That way you have one watch with a colored bezel, one with jubilee, one with oyster and one with cyclops and one without :)

I had both. I wanted to love the Batman and it’s a great looking watch, but just wasn’t me. Pepsi is my favorite most versatile watch in my collection.

The Pepsi is a great watch but it’s colours are far from ideal in the real world.

I wore a 5 digit Pepsi for years, and eventually tired of the colours and went Coke and then settled on the LN, which I’m wearing now and have worn the LN ever since.

The CHNR is more versatile than the Pepsi IMHO.

Keep the 126710BLRO - it's iconic. I have Batman, Batgirl, Superman and Pepsi jubilee. They all get worn with different outfits. I think you need 50th anniversary SeaDweller to complement your jubilee Pepsi or Batman

I know a few guys that once the "chase" was over...could never bond with the Pepsi bezel. I mean a good problem to have to be able to decide for oneself but...I can see it.

I wore a 16610LV for almost 10 years and then one day I woke up and was like MEH green bezel. Never looked back.

Welcome to the forum

I owned the BLNR for about 2 years, but just never really bonded with it. Great reference, but I just got bored with it.

I've owned the BLRO jubilee for just over 3 years now and love it as much today as the day I bought it.

To each their own, but I think it works wonderfully as an everyday, go anywhere, dress in anything watch. YMMV

I think a 36mm DJ would be a good complement for any professional series Rolex.
