Second hand going backwards

Hi All,

I have been looking at vintage Rolex GMT from the 1960's and 1970's. One of the things I noticed on two pieces was that when I unscrewed the crown and adjusted the hour hand, the second hand would rotate counter clockwise.

Is the second hand rotating counter clockwise a sign of wheel train wear, or was this something considered normal for watches of pre-1975?

Any insights appreciated.

Thanks,

-Sheldon

Hack or non-hacking movement?

On a non hacking movement, it is completely normal.

In fact, the manual says that's how you set the seconds.

Sheldon it sounds like a non-hack movement. If so,as stated, that's normal.
