Icon5 Will the Sprite stay another year?

Howdy folks!

First time post, hope this is an ok place to start…

I’ve seen a number of the “rumors” vids suggesting that the Sprite may go this year, which would make sense. I’m on the list with my AD and really hoping to get one as I’m a southpaw with reasons that green has particular significance, and also someone with a son who is lefty. I’m a bit anxious that it may go away before I top the list. Obviously, we’ll know in a few weeks, but curious what you folks think the odds are.

Cheers and thanks!

Someone posted an image showing a right handed version. Looked legit. But we’ll see.

Was it the fake catalogue picture?

Was told by my AD that Rolex has issues with the modification they made to the Sprite movement have an unusual amount of returns under warranty and that they are likely to discontinue because of that.
We shall see in a few days !

I haven’t heard any rumors from my AD about it being discontinued but it could be. Maybe they take it out for a year and introduce a new version in 2025 with a different color and better production.

Why would it ‘make sense’ to discontinue the VTNR?

Well Sprite is quite a popular brand of fizzy canned drink, but not so popular as many other canned fizzy drinks so who knows.

Sprite is the favourite in my collection and I believe it will stay.
OP Celebration funky watch and will go.
But the Sprite is the best release in my eyes Rolex have done in years, left sided crown, and the colours work much better than the overhyped Pepsi with its dark red and navy ..

My guess, it stays. Especially if the Pepsi goes.

Rolex CEO Jean-Frédéric Dufour is a lefty and apparently wanted a GMT that could be worn nicely on the right wrist.

This is the same thing my AD said, I’m not a big fan of it but seeing a new release discontinued is alway saddening. Hopefully it stays

This would be contrary to Rolex behaviour. They almost never have such a short production run on a GMT. I had one that I picked up at MSRP but sold it on as I could not get used to the look. Loved the green and black bezel though.

Spirite . YM42 Ti and Le mans Daytona have been the best rolex releases from last couple decades. If they aren't highly collectible now. They will be 100% in the future.

If any of them goes Id be sad.

I hope they keep the lhd in production as my ad says i am up for mine in July it will have been a 1.5 year wait. I love the ti yacht master maybe my favorite Rolex ever however i am just not a big enough fish to get one and i refuse to pay a resellers mark up. Still have not gotten the gmt requested maybe one day or not. I can remember just 7ish years ago being offered different daytonas at a discount my ad (manager and several employees are long time employees)they laugh and say yeah remember when! Remember the tables always turn as a society right now fear and scarcity really seem to work on our countrys consumerist ways

Nice to see such a thread without a lot of people complaining that the watch is somehow wrong and just. cannot. be. there. to. stay.

Pelagos LHD is popular and there to stay. I cannot imagine why VTNR would have any movement issues - surely they didn’t change the winding direction (which would amount to a true left handed watch), so the only modification is on the alignment of the printing of the date wheel.

If the story has been repeated, most likely some folk at different AD’s just read it on an online forum somewhere.

I was on the wait list for almost two years - since April, 2022 - but I got the call in January. Still getting used to it. I think one of the GMT's will be discontinued this year, but do not think it will be the Sprite. A lot of people think it will be the Pepsi because of the difficulty making the bezel. I do not think they will discontinue the Pepsi. I think they will discontinue the Batman. We will know in a couple weeks!

Interesting. I’ve not heard this.

Movement is very much the same - not modified. Other than new date disc. Balance poised differently due to crown up being worst position. That’s it.

My gut feeling says the Sprite will be gone next month. Worst case one more year maybe but I’ll bet this is it for the Sprite. 9 more days to find out!.
