My AD cannot order the 228235 olive dial at the moment, i do not know whether this has something to do with W&W or not.

You are mixing things. The drop of the new watches will not be at noon. The drop of the teaser might be at noon, indeed.

Seems as though he’s openly joking based on the comments.

Plus, the rootbeer has a GRNR reference in the picture

If this actually came out and if it was steel it would probably be my favorite. The turquoise, however, would suggest a platinum model and then I doubt that Rolex will present a new GMT with a monochromatic bezel

No arguing with you there, but the one in his video has BLNR in the reference, I doubt it’d be called that if something like that came out. Sadly.

Haha, thanks my friend, I appreciate that, fortunately not as relevant today as it used to be back when we had „which muffins/chocolates/presents to bring your AD without seeming too weird“ threads on a daily basis.

It would seem Rolex has been out with theirs too, for over a month actually, but nobody really seems to have given it much notice, even though it seems quite revealing indeed.

What are you referring to/what’s your prediction?

On the 29th of February (Leap Day), a Rolex teaser vid was posted on the W&W Instagram page, showing sone of the inner workings of a Saros type movement in a yellow gold case. Now it could all be a coincidence and refer merely to the Sky Dweller, but seeing as the 28th/29th of February are the only thing the annual calendar in the Sky Dwellers 9002 movement needs help with, it’d be an odd date to post a Sky Dweller vid.

Furthermore, the Sky Dweller was just updated and is available in many variants, so it would be odd to have just a regular extension to the model.

And then there was the patent publication early this year for an evolution on the 9002 movement‘s mechanism that deals with the amplitude challenges encountered by complicated calendar movements when they need to jump a date, and especially when they have to jump over multiple ones in the end of February.

All this leads me to believe that Rolex is teasing us sone kind of perpetual calendar, which honesty would be a sensible evolution for them now that the SkyDweller has become much more democratized than it was initially.

Mightn’t be this year but it’s not far away, pretty confident of that.

Great analysis thank you. Would love to see a perpetual calendar in stainless.

I also think it’s a good thing that Rolex is getting into some more complications

I dont know. I feel that if Rolex were going start going down that route, they would have down awful lot more in terms of finishing with the 1908. It just doesn’t seem like their wheelhouse to me.

Credit where credit is due, it’s the good folks over at Coronet who brought that patent to broader attention and another member here who linked that video over in the countdown thread. All I’m doing really is assembling this into premature conclusions infused with a bit of wishful thinking.

Not sure I agree. The 1908 is priced about 30% under true haute horlogerie automatics to reflect its obviously inferior finishing, so that’s both as fair as the modern industry will get and in line with Rolex‘ positioning.

As for the complications, I wouldn’t say that Rolex shies away from them, seeing as I’m wearing a Sky Dweller as I type this. What Rolex does is robust and user friendly watches. If it’s not both these things, they don’t do it. But if they find a way to make it just those two things, there’s no reason they wouldn’t do a PC.

Didn’t keep them from doing an AC anyway. And that’s more functional, much simpler Ti use and a good deal more robust than an haute horlogerie variant - and incidentally, about 30% cheaper too in equivalent metals, just to close the loop.
