Live and work in NYC, I wear all my Rolex watches in rotation pretty much all my life living in the city. Just wear long sleeves and don’t flash your wrist. FYI. The expensive neighborhoods draws more robberies. If you were to ride the subway, don’t take it after 10pm. It’s just common sense of life living in NYC.

Lived in NYC since 2011, you'll be fine. I take the subway to and from work daily and am in the office 5 days a week. Rotate between a 3940 and 5402 without any issues.

Wearing a Pepsi in NYC

I would just be mindful in times square in crowded areas

But not the last!

I didn’t wear anything last time I was walking around midtown. I asked the doorman at Ritz Carlton where is ok to walk and walked only those places. Mostly avoided the poors.

You should be ok but always be on the lookout for bad situations and avoid. Obviously don't take the train at 2am alone.

This is amazing satire. Kudos.

On the off chance it’s not, get over yourself. Nobody cares about your Rolex in NYC. They’re a dime a dozen.

I have never been there in my life, however I would not even wear brand new flip-flops in NYC.

Hi gente. A question to the newyorkers. Last time I was there it was 2011. Staying at Queens and catching subway all day long to Manhattan, Brooklyn, walked through Harlem, Bronx, etc. Even at late in the night after partying in Terminal 5.
Always felt safe and confident, always watching our sorroundings tho. Of course saw a lot of fauna but no issues at all.
Nowadays, what is different based on this thread comments?

I've never had an issue wearing mine anywhere in Manhattan. You'll likely see many other fellow Rolex owners too.

I wear all my watches and just use common sense. Be aware of your surroundings and it’s totally fine. My daily is a DD 40 plat and my weekend watches are a Pepsi or a nautilus. I walk around NYC with them EVERY day. My wife’s daily is a RG AP, A bulgari serpenti or a malachite DD 36. All good.

I live in Manhattan and wear various watches on the subway (sky dweller, explorer, root beer etc). Just as everyone else is saying - be aware of your surroundings and use common sense. If on the subway I would suggest long sleeves - light jacket or whatever. But if it’s going to make you so anxious it will affect your trip don’t bother. I hope you enjoy your time in the city.

It's a very striking watch, but you'll be able to use it without a problem... NYC is not London or Barcelona.

I remember meeting NYPD officers with TT subs - it wasnt infrequent that youd see someone with a very high end PM piece - Rolex, AP, Patek...

Not sure how things have changed in the last 5 years

It is not the same wearing jewelery on the high street or in the subway

This is a silly thread. I work in midtown and wear my Pepsi or AP royal oak everyday and never think twice about it. You’ll be fine.

Just use common sense when travelling. Of course wearing a watch costing tens of thousands on public transport whilst wearing a t-shirt is a bad idea.

Similarly if you’re in a flashy restaurant, be aware that organised criminals pay waiters on minimum wage to spot expensive watches so you may become a victim when you leave.

Finally one realistic opinion and a sensible advice

The fact that you did not experience any problems does not presume that many others did not either.

I wear my Pepsi in NYC frequently. However, I often wear long sleeves that I roll up or down depending on the situation. I have no problems wearing the watch on the train, but I typically roll down my sleeves...

Wearing a Pepsi in NYC

Realistically, you Should be ok but no one can say with certainty. Lots happening in the city right now and to be honest I don’t wear my Rolexes much in the city anymore unless I will be in the car or the office majority of the day.

Watch theft is definitely a thing. I know 5+ people who have gotten robbed for their watches in the last few months. Most of them happened downtown and not near where you’re staying, but I do have a very good friend who got robbed for his Nautilus on 64th and park Ave in broad daylight not long ago.

Just be aware of your surroundings.

Surprising in that area. I’ve worn different gold Rolex’s in manhattan and not thought much about it. Going back soon and was going to wear a Santos with a diamond bezel. I don’t ride the sub way but need to be more aware.
