My Rolex AD in SF to be gone completely

So after losing Rolex, apparently the entire storefront is going away in San Francisco now

Sad for the city. They are memorable to me as an AD that was disrespectful. Hard to imagine that I was the only one that they treated poorly.

They lost Patek and Rolex. They will still be in Palo Alto and are opening a new Rolex boutique there.

What happened with the lawsuit where the guy who tried to develop a relationship that would lead to a Patek sued when Shreve loss their Patek AD status?

Settled. Dismissed with prejudice.

I was looking at their website, and I'm not sure what I would even buy, even at 60% retail. Any suggestions? I feel like it could be a good bargain hunting event. But I'm 99% sure all Rolex, probably all Tudors have been moved to other locations. But they have JLCs etc.

How can one shop the liquidation sale? In person only?

Not surprised. Shreve SF has been going downhill for years now, especially once they moved to their current location. They lost ALS as well years ago on top of Patek/Rolex.

The retail watch business is very tough in the current market. The few brands which sell, they cannot get enough inventory so lots of disgruntled customers while the other stuff sits in the cases.

Well it is San Francisco, the whole city is in a horrible tailspin.

Sad to see but unfortunately this is clearly the model for the major watch brands

If it's in such a horrible tailspin, why did ALS just open a boutique, with both Patek and Rolex following later this year in SF?

In November 1999 I drove from Sacramento to San Francisco to purchase my first Rolex, a Rolex Datejust. We had plenty of Rolex dealers in Sacramento I could have purchased from, but I specifically wanted to purchase it from Shreve & Co.

I still have the watch, sales receipt, box, papers along with the Shreve & Co tissue paper they wrapped it in.

It's shame they are no longer in the city.

Is Palo Alto going to retain rolex long term?

Good riddance to Shreve, they were the worst AD in SF. Their Palo Alto location, including standalone Rolex boutique, will remain. Also, Kearns is opening up a combined Rolex/Patek boutique directly across the street from the old Shreve location, so I wouldn't quite write the city off just yet. For those that are interested, Shreve is doing a liquidation sale this week, you can pick up whatever leftover overpriced jewelry and watches they haven't transferred to their other location.

What’s your beef with Shreve?
Sad to see the SA there lose their livelihood, not sure why you are happy that people lost their jobs.

Naw don't believe everything you see on Faux. Was just there two weeks ago and the city was super clean and vibrant. (just don't go to Tenderloin and you'll be fine).

As has always been the case with SF or any big city in general. Avoid the bad areas and don’t make yourself an obviously easy target like leaving your backpack/luggage visible in your car.

Same, was in town for RSA and was actually quite nice... as along as you don't go to the Tenderloin. Much better, and safer, than a few years ago.

What's left? Surely anything good would have transfered to the Palo Alto location? I want to be wrong, but I don't think there's anything worth buying at the liquidation sale. If someone go the first day I'd love to know what's there and if it's worth the trouble to Lyft over for a look.

Went there today. No Rolex or Tudor as you might expect. But found some Omega they couldn't sell for 30% off including a jame bond one. There was a crowd, not huge, but still had to wait a little to talk to someone. Saw a few Nomos if you like those. It's worth going if you're in the neighborhood but not if you are far away.

Dropped by today and saw Breitling, Jaeger LeCoultre, and Panerai. All appear to be 30% off.
