thoughts on this 5513?
Fine condition vintage Rolex Submariner reference 5513 on leather bracelet. The case dial and bezel are all in pristine condition. The watch is dated by marking inside case which indicates it was made in the 3rd quarter of 1966, a personalized engraving on the case back shows that it was presented as a gift in 1967
Looking for $4950.... |

What is the serial number....Somewhere in the 1.5 area the gild dials were replaced with the meters first dials......Sounds like it's right on that edge???
The markers look to have a greenish tint....Not a big fan of that color myself but depending on price and service history, it looks fine... |

I was wondering what the earlier matte dials were made. What are the first two digits of the serial number??
Not fan of any kind of greenish tint either. |

With the serial 1.58mill, it means this watch was one of the first during the transition from gilt to matte. The watch looks like a nice example, but something about the lume IMO is a bit odd, could just be the picture though. Other than that, looks to have a clean 1520 cal. and a nice fat font insert & fat case. @ $4950, its priced right for the current market.

Appears the watch has been serviced. like someone else said the crown should not be triplock... Maybe it is a replacement?

Nice piece......would be even nicer with a original Superdome crystal.
As for the plots, I have seen a couple of MF's with puffy plots and they were original. Something about the late 60's dials, some even have plots that will still glow momentarily when exposed to light. |
