Rolex for under $500
I'm new but I'm thinking about getting a Rolex. Is it possible to get one under $500? I would like one with a little gold in it. I was curious can I get a better deal by buying a watch piece by piece or to buy the whole watch already put together. Please give answers.

You could buy a few links at a time for the bracelet for that dollar figure.

Welcome to TRF.
Wish you luck with your hunt, but you will need just a bit more to purchase a Rolex if that is trully what you want.

How much do you think I will have to pay? The Prince Rolex Tudor is the cheapest so far. How much do you think I can pay for one that I'm looking for? Will $700 get me what I'm looking for?

If you put $500 away per month for, oh, 15 months, maybe then.

With some searching you could probably round up an old TT DJ head, in 'beater' condition, for $1K to $1.5K...from there you can buy a cheap strap until finding a TT band (a stretched 'beater' band could be had for $500 ish).
Good luck and don't give up...may just have to save for a bit. |

Keep that $500 and keep saving while you look for one at the right price!
Maybe by then you have more cash then. |

Some of us have no life .... Aswers to your questions are no but depending on what watch you want your not as far away as you might think. I've seen on this site some vintage Datejusts and Air Kings go for $1500 and up depending on age and condition. Good Luck with the hunt.

You could find one that says "Rolex" in new condition, in that price range, in the "right" section of some towns.

The two names will never appear on the dial; if so, it is a fake or a painted over dial... You may find an older Tudor under $1,000, you will unlikely find many Rolex models for under $2,000, and they would be a couple of decades ol. (Usual caveats to keep some from digging up ancient photos - Rolex does own the Tudor Watch Company and 50 years ago you may find rare vintge models that say Rolex Tudor)

What he said! Save up and get something nice that you will look at and appreciate for years to come. Don't be in a hurry to get the "cheapest" one you find, or mark my words you WILL spend more down the road getting what you truly wanted and regret being so hasty to begin with. Rolex ain't going anywhere soon, so you have time! |

My advice would be to keep your eye out for a vintage Tudor date-day model. The often pop up for around $800-$1100 depending on condition, band vs. strap, accessories, etc.

I used to see very good condition Oysterdates (6694) for sub $1K ($700+). Always wanted one as I love manual winders. Have these jumped up in price?

I think even saving is folly, unless u save to double the price of the Rolex you want. That way you have ur watch and a savings account which will ultimately be better for u in the long run.

Check the retail and used pricing, and you will see that these watches cost a lot of money, not near the number you floated. You did know this, right?
Look and learn and enjoy the brand as you develop your planning, but be realistic that this could be a purchase years down the road. |
