Last I checked....it was possible to exercise without any smartwatch...

THIS must be the solution to the Obesity epidemic...now I understand!

All this time...people were just waiting for the phone/watch to be released!
Yeah, I never wore any jewelry while training and playing sports.

I think if I were to get one, I'd wear it mostly during exercise / activity. With that being said, if I need to have my phone on me as well - it kind of defeats the purpose. I love Apple products, and I think this is probably the best example of wearable technology vs the other competition, but I still can't see myself wanting/craving/needing one. I'm just not sold on it yet.

With that being said, we are Rolex wearers, a small % of the world, that don't want to put an Apple watch on and take our Rolexes off. I think the product will do decent, as there are a lot of people that wear cheaper watches that they replace every couple years anyways. Also, theres a huge market of people that don't wear watches at all, that may be interested in something like this.

I'm curious to see how this all pans out. It seems like a decent looking product that has some cool features - but as of now, I'm not sold, and I'm not sure what it can offer that will change that. I won't be ignorant enough to say that they can't change my mind though :)

I too feel the iwatch will be useless if it doesn't work without the iPhone. I loved the idea of the iwatch to replace my phone.

also, could a smart watch magnetize a mechanical movement if worn side to side, besides their cases bashing each other constantly

you could wear them on opposite wrists , but , say , you are right handed , you'd want the Apple Watch on left wrist to better manipulate the multi function crown with your dominant hand's fingers ....but now your mech watch is worn on " the wrong side " , for most folks here, and be banged / scraped against hard surfaces / edges until you get used to a watch on that arm .

the day when the " smart watch " becomes totally independent and no longer requires tethering , is the day when " regular " watch sales may plummet, even for the High End, as people have become addicted to their devices 24/7 ...just look around you

The Apple Watch will be a great choice for people who aren't "into," watches.

I agree, however, since I choose to have the utility of both the question is how.

If Rubber B made a two watch band?

Here is my (half ass) mock up.

11 Reasons by Jack Archer. Well reasoned except, getting a "real" Pepsi Rolex on ebay for 5k is a dream.

My solution to your problem is no apple watch. It's a blasphemy to watches, why not strap an iPod nano to your wrist?

I wasn't waiting for it, I even don't need an Apple watch. Doing fine without, oh and did I mention I would like an AP or another Rolex

Never. If my only watch was a Timex then maybe I'd consider an Apple Watch.

I imagine that future generations will have a lot of very cool technology. I can see getting one and wearing it while traveling, so it can act as a Google Maps feature and get me where I'm going, get restaurant reservations, hours a museum is open, etc. I certainly wouldn't wear one as an everyday watch, but there are times when having that information at your fingertips would be great. Also, I still remember back in the 80s jogging while carrying my Sony Walkman, so perhaps this ultimate can be an IPod on your wrist, with Bluetooth wireless in the ear.

I think it's a great step forward, particularly with the interchangeable straps. If I see a man in his 20s more often than not he's not wearing a watch. It may sound funny but wearing a watch on the wrist does take some getting used to, and I think a lot of young people don't think it's worth the effort, when they can just pull out their phone and check the time. If this gets non-watch wearers interested in wearing a wristwatch, and actually using it to check the time, then that is all good. Those who are interested in style will start to look into "real" watches, and then get hooked!

So, don't put me on the list for a first generation IWatch, but down the road, I may be persuaded. When the IPad came out a few years ago, I thought it was the dumbest concept ever (we weren't IPhone users), but now I can't live without it. I can use the Internet and look up things so quickly, from anywhere, or just use it as a reading device, without being tied to the computer at my desk.
