There are plenty of greys (like Nashville watch) that I trust just the same but are realistic with prices.

Nashville? They are great. Got my 15500 AP from them. Some as silk transaction and would buy again from them in a heartbeat.

Yep I've also sold him a couple watches.

If I can get within 10% of a backpack dealer pricing on moda and go through him I do it.

Na that's nonsense. He's in no better position to offer more 'peace of mind' than many others that offer the same exact product and service at a better price. Still, if people are willing to hand their money to him without doing further scrutiny on pricing, fair play to David.

Of course. He's just a human like other dealers. He sells the same watches as other dealers. Same friendly service as other dealers. Same guarantees, etc. Nothing in there sets him apart from other dealers.

But what actually sets him apart is his impeccable reputation built through many years. That is the "peace of mind" that people are paying a premium over.

I don't agree with his prices anymore but apparently, a lot of folks will still happily pay his premium

Yes, agreed. It's his reputation that stands out - buy the seller.

Great. Did you end up paying sales tax?

Out of state vendors are not obligated to collect sales tax for your home state. Your taxes owed will depend on state of residence and will be self-reported when you file.

That's not really true anymore since the South Dakota case in the Supreme Court. There is some threshold of sales after which the out of state vendor would have to collect sales taxes for your home state.

Agree. DavidSW still asking 25% more than the other greys, depending on model. I trust the other big names equally (eg. Takuya, AIS, Nashville, OC, SD, Tropical etc.)

Amazing quality and service from DSW, have bought a few pieces in the past but always reached out for flexibility on price as they certainly are inflated.

+1 from me for Tropical Watch and Nashville Watch, as well as HQ Milton. I find myself browsing on there the most these days.

Feel better?

He doesn't collect. Pretty much none of them do. Make of it what you will.

Just saw a BNIB 228235 DD Olive Dial listed for $45,900. That is essentially MSRP + tax on one of the most popular Rolex PM models.

I don't think the 4000v represent the hole VC OS market. But sure the VC have bin hit hard.

4500v and 4900v (including blue dials) have been trading under retail this whole year

Completely agree. My thought was that years ago, all TRF trusted sellers were pretty close in price. I used David because he was the most recommended. But now his prices are certainly higher. I’ll definitely still get a quote from him on any piece I buy since I plan to trade. So I’d hope that trade would be higher than others and new watch price would be higher than others effectively making it a wash, or very close.

But going back to your comment, I think any of the Trusted Sellers on here will stand behind their product and not sell you a fake watch.

Personally, I would never consider a Rolex, or any watch, as an investment. I purchase such items for my personal enjoyment and don't worry about whether or not their resell value goes up or down. To do so would detract from the sheer enjoyment I get from wearing them. If it's investment you seek, consider stocks or real estate.

What part of my post is in disagreement with this ?

None of your post implies disagreement with my posted opinion. I apologise - I think I just responded to the wrong message. I beg your pardon. Do you live in Nashville?

I think the point of the Dailey mail article is that prices have fallen and will continue to fall. Not if you should “invest” in financial terms but spend your money on something that might still be depreciating.

I think the point of the Daily Mail article is to try and boost sales, by saying how low the prices are.

Unfortunately, everyone notices that there is nothing to suggest prices won’t be lower tomorrow
