Really depends on the color of gold and what your intent for wear is. If it's business or dress then the President in YG. If you deal with Chinese / Asian businessmen, then for sure go with the YG, that's a sign of power.
IMHO, YG Daytona is too bling. If you go WG Daytona, it's more casual so why spend the money for WG when you can get the same look with a SS Daytona. |

Nahh, just go right for a platinum DD from the beginning. That's what I did. If you want the top step and you can get it, just get it. There's no training involved in wearing a watch. It isn't like buying your first motorcycle or airplane to get some experience before moving up.

Your watch looks really good. How does platinium compare to steel in terms of weight, scratch resistance etc...?

Agree with the comments ... Day Date is dressier while Daytona is sportier. Price-point wise there is some obvious "overlap" on certain range of both models.
IMHO for the long haul, it has got to be the Day Date. The design is deemed to be timeless and classic. Whatever will be your final choice, please share some pictures. Thanks. |

SS Daytona. I suggest white because of it's classic look on the Daytona but the black is just as beautiful to others. Look at the resale value of SS Daytonas and further explanation will not be necessary.

My Rolex Day-Date stays in the vault most of the time, while my SS Daytona goes with me everyday since i bought it. It all depends on your lifestyle. Why not get both? Good luck!

well IMO president platinum 41mm is somthing unique, day and date are the most useful features a watch can have and on top of that it carries a history with it. DAY DATE is a watch which grows with age.
i am not against daytona and i dont have any of these, but chronograph is not for everyone, highly polished bezel makes difficult to see tachymeter, it carries its value better than president. if ever i get a choice i will go or day date only platinum. |

First get the DD then if you find it is not you, theres an excuse to get the daytona. In the end everyone appears to buy more than 1 anyways... Lol

i had to make a similar decision on a WG meteorite DD vs a WG meteorite Daytona. I went with the DD and would do it again! although it was a very close call, the red hands and lettering on a meteorite Daytona dial is just stunning but tear shaped diamonds with arabic numbers on a DD dial is just the most fantasic combo of understated elegance for me.

The President is a timeless and stately piece, at home under the cuff of a dress shirt be it cuff-linked or merely monogrammed. Boardrooms and country club dining rooms have moved lives, borders and hundreds of millions, if not hundreds of billions with DD wristwatches.
The Daytona, wonderfully beutiful piece that it is can certainly be worn with a suit and makes a statement but is more at home in a casual setting with folded back (or under) cuff, open collar or perhaps short sleeves. Age, I suppose makes a difference as well. A twenty year old with a DD could be presumed a poseur whist a Daytona works with the young and the experienced. Having crested fifty a ways back and being blessed as to own both of the above I offer these comments as to my perspective as to the statement they make to others. With that said, if you wear the watch you want for you then my comments merely wasted bandwidth and you have to go (as you did) with what speaks to you. Theres also something to be said for having a gold (or other precious metal) dress Rolex and a SS sport model for weekends and casual wear. Not to be hypocritical, I think I'll wear my SS Daytona with a suit tomorrow. |

Too tough to choose.
I prefer Daytona in RG.

I think I would go with the DDII YG with diamond hour markers. I didn't really like the Patinum version for some reason.
The Daytona precious metal models look real nice also, but the DDII for some reason has been the one I have been looking at the most lately.
