No need to correct my commentary on your attempt to one up my corrections as i'm not in the correct grammar mode at this time. Please see the below edits and responses. This is fun.

However, since you knew that already, then “us” refers to the members as a collective. (My, it sure did take you a long while to google grammar your response)

It’s a pejorative term, describing the effort needed to read your prose.
Don’t worry if you didn’t know that, you’re new here. (its effortless when educated to the point of understanding)

Mea culpa…a missing apostrophe before the r. (There is no such contraction other than if you're pregnant)

Definitely definitive, but only when you can be bothered to write with readability foremost. (fragment)

Otherwise, the brevity of conciseness would be so much more rewarding and appreciated. (otherwise relevant or compared to what)

Indeed – but in the context of, and pertaining to, your opening post, it’s clearly understood to what I was referring. (clearly its not understood if it is in question)

Do you have a preference which? (no but it matters)
Personally, I’d roll with a noun – but if you think it’s an adjective…

Translation? Since when were contractions deemed a foreign language?
The word you were looking for, but failed to find in your vocabulary, is “expanded”. (for which you were looking?)

As for the sentence itself – it is, in effect, a soliloquy.
(didn't another member make mention about a site for budding writers, which may or may not pertain to those attempting to write a soliloquy?)

Don’t mistake my facetiousness as anything but just that.
If Paul is in a sharing mood, help yourself to some of his popcorn – you can butter him up by commenting on how lovely his Richard Mille are…and no, that definitely isn’t a euphemism!

Did someone understand the point of the thread? And yes I read through the entire post, maybe it's because I'm french, but can't imagine all that was really needed to ask about what is the best chrono, there's gotta be something else, but didn't get it.

So my choice for a good chrono, 5270R, 5370P from PP, or from Lange the Datograph line, any model within that line is fine.

Sorry if I made grammar mistakes, I rarely speak english

if this had been the opener, your question may have done better out of the gate?

i like the 5170G, it has qualities of many vintage pieces with a modern movement and size .

A few other decent and modern chronograph options with pulsometer: previous 5170, Montblanc Heritage Pulsographe and Vintage Pulsographe, Lange 1815 chrono boutique edition.

If you look into vintage I'm sure there will be many, many more options as well.

Was it an interesting read? The wonderful thing about message forums is that you have a choice of to read or not to read.
Do those chronographs possess the pulsometer function?

The point of the post was to see if i'm alone in wonder about the history of measuring, tracking, and understanding time. It is interesting the different levels of involvement people have in any particular hobby. I enjoy learning about and breaking down to the fundamental level anything I am currently doing. For instance, what is a tourbillon? What is it's function? Why was it developed? Who developed it? How does it work within the mechanical inner workings of the watch? The evolution of the watch is fascinating in that it allows us an approximation and ability to create and maintain everything around us. The reasons that different people enjoy a common hobby is also of interest. In my opinion, one person's reason for their involvement in the hobby doesn't supersede that of any other. It's nice to see a group of people with common interests that share their joy with one another, no matter what the reason.
Do I want you to answer the tourbillon question? No. It was an example. It's who I am, if its not who you are that is cool. The other point is to gather opinions on which chronograph with pulsometer you'd prefer and for which reason(s)? I find that those who have experienced by diving into the pool rather than those who read about swimming provides better and more in-depth opinions.

It was original, I liked the part about the nerds...

Sorry just checked and the Lange don't have it, maybe other models from them have it, but the Datograph line is the most interesting IMO...

About watches most people here are really passionate about them, some have great knowledge, others have a little knowledge, like me, and some are learning, but one thing is the same for all, we all love watches

Jay, we are having fun like you. I don't mind the your mom and jerking off comments in response to my posts but you shouldn't attack Karl (who is knowledgeable and has an enviable collection) because he has a picture of his watches for an avatar. If his avatar meant what you say it does then you would have to think half the members of this forum are like that.

Should Karl be insulting members, regardless if they are long-standing or new, of the forum by inferring that they are pretentious? I find it funny that it is permissible for some to be immune from criticism when they themselves may need a dose of the truth so that they keep their betters to themselves. His comment was unwarranted and useless. I really don't care how you interpreted my response to another member's attempt at insulting me. Is the reason you responded in the manner you did because he has more posts and has been a member of this forum for a longer period of time?
My point is that whenever I reply to any thread or post, never will you find that it is mean-spirited. If you take it in that manner then you may simply want to ask what was my intent. People are who they are. They are not what you want them to be just because you think their intent is what you assume without asking them. So, no I do not think the members of this board are pretentious but thought my response to his useless comment was funny and in good humor. So what are you currently doing with your hands and did you check out that website?
:)

seems the OPs interest in watches is second to his interest in unrelated banter… its your topic but you have done little to steer it to the discussion.

For chronos I own a 5960A and an IWC Portugese Laureus, plan to buy a Lange 1815.
