Going over the AD's head to complain to Rolex probably not the best way to build a relationship with the AD. Like everyone said, there was probably a VVIP that wanted one. Until you've paid the money and received the receipt it's unfortunately theirs to do with as they please.

Most AD's do get the Daytonas every month, some both dials, some one in alternating dial every month, smaller AD's less so. That said, if they were phoning you, you were probably worst case another 2 to 3 months away now. If I were you I'd visit the AD and have a friendly chat to them.

Ya but what if you have to work extra time to make that money back. Pretty much offsets the wait time you’re saying is a waste as you’ll just waste your time making the money to pay grey difference

Of course there are some that grow money on trees, but for the rest of us lol

Just kidding, sorry for your negative experience. I doubt rolex will do anything about it but if I was you I would definitely talk to the AD and offer them a chance to make it up to you.

If he wanted a Daytona for himself (?)...He would have gotten one long time ago

ADs are in the black market business now - probably he got $7,000 above retail
...or more....So ...it became his ...

That sucks, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Crappy thing for the owner to do, but at the end of the day, it's just a watch. If you really want it, go grey and screw the AD!

Sorry to hear about that bs. Sounds like someone jumped the gun or put their foot in their mouth before checking with dad. I’ve been waiting since Nov 2016 for my Daytona and no word yet when it will be my turn from my AD.

I’m speechless and full of rage on your behalf. You waited six months for a steel Daytona (longer than anyone else in the world has ever had to wait). You are entitled to it! They should give you it for free to ease the suffering you have endured.

On a serious note, get a grip. You are entitled to nothing in life, especially a Daytona. That one was nearly yours (maybe) but now it’s not. Move on and suck it up.

This is true. To make this observation you must either be a high-roller or an AD :)

Oh what a shame..never mind
Fancy getting the call and then being dropped
You must be devistated.

It's like someone saying to me there is £14,000 of free money then saying we got it wrong ..I would be devistated too...

You should really consider contacting Rolex head office
I am certain they will also feel your pain...

This is not something I would write to Rolex about.

It is not your watch until you have paid for it and the warranty card has been transferred.

Rolex will wonder why in the world you are bothering them. And I do not think that they will even speak to the AD.

In the unlikely event Rolex does speak with the AD, your best case is that he will say this is was a miscommunication and the matter will be closed. Your worst case is that he will deny that it ever happened, and again, the matter will be closed.

Either way, IMOP, you are wasting your time. And the likely outcome is that both Rolex and the AD will put your name on the "we do not want to deal with this person list." And while the "wait list" may be fictional, the "we do not want to deal with this person list" is real. Everyone has one. From bankers to gardeners.

And as the name implies, once you are on the "we do not want to deal with this person list," people will not deal with you. And will put you at the bottom of every other list. It is just human nature.

Nor would I speak to the AD. That is unless you can catch a grip on your outrage and use it to your advantage. Just a casual conversation making light of the situation but using it to try and leverage yourself to get the watch you want. Otherwise, you guessed it, you will get on the "we do not want to deal with this person list."

Welcome to the forum.

I’d be curious to know how long you’ve been frequenting this AD. Do you have a purchase history with them?

Regardless, whenever someone breaks their word it’s disappointing.

I have a feeling there’s more to the story.

I waited patiently on my old ADs "list" for almost two years, then was politely told it would be years and years if ever. Switched ADs and have been patiently waiting a year on their list - and they have gotten me an SD43, BLNR, BLRO and my Hulk is coming in the next week. So they have been good to me. But the Daytona is a different animal. They did tell me a few days ago when they called to tell me my Hulk would be in shortly that they hoped to have a Daytona for me in a year, maybe a touch more. If so, that will be four years of waiting across 2 ADs. Does it suck? Yes. Will it make the watch even sweeter if/when it comes in? You bet!
