IMHO if it is your first PAM and on a budget, then the 312 will never go wrong
If you own any PAM other than those 1950, than go for 233 anytime For myself, I am saving up $$$ for the 233 now. I love the 270 too, but has been priced way out of my budget |

In person it doesn't get better than the 233.
The 312 doesn't do it for me like the 233. In fact, the boutique just called me tonight to see if I wanted a 312!

Based on looks alone? I prefer the 312 for its clean and classic Panerai look. However, both of those watches being on my wish list, which one do I want more??
Answer: Which ever one becomes available to me first! |

I never voted! How did I miss this.
Love 'em both, but 233 for the dome! I'm a sucker for that.

233 hands down if you are not considering the pricing, but if you are then 312 is a better value for the money watch.

tough decision.. 233
i just picked up a 312 from my ad an hour ago. I also own a 233 which i havent broken out yet due to me waiting for a strap that should be here any day now.. My vote would have to go to the 233, the domed crystal and 8 day movement is superior and well worth the money... The 312 dial is much more cleaner but only has a 3 day power reserve and is a automatic movement.. Being spoiled with a 8 day movement, you cant compare...

I love both of them and for a long time was planning on eventually getting the 233. I sya eventually because I would prefer to first pay that much money in securing a AP (I did), then a Rolex (also got one) then perhaps a VC then a Panerai. But now that they released the 312 it will definitely be on my current list, before the VC.
Sure I would have loved it to have the 233 dome crystal but but inhouse movement + sandwich dial + clean dial + 1950 case outweigh the need to pay so much for a "noob" watch movement maker. IMHO. |

312. 233 is a wonderful watch, but way too busy for my taste.

Although it's a bit biased as I now own a 312 and have not yet held the 233, I have to say that it seems to me the 312 is the ideal wearers watch. The 233 seems more of a collectors item to me (partially due to its price and it's more domed crystal). I think the 312 is the best blend of modern and vintage.
