I exclusively wear brown belt and shoes, I’ve outgrown black. I have watches with olive straps that I pair with olive or brown trousers and green shirts and sweaters. I also have a Tudor BBB with a blue bezel that I wear with blue/grey shirts and/or blue jeans. Of course I also have many brown straps that I wear with all of the above as well as brushed stainless and titanium. The brown leather belt and shoes stay consistent. I don’t own a suit because I can make a perfectly fine living without one but if I did I would totally wear a Sub with it just to be subversive.

I know it is personal taste and sense of style - but I go to at least 1 true "black tie" (ie TUX) event every year. Being a wanna be "WIS", I do notice the watches worn at events. I've seen all sorts of bracelet watches: YG DJ, TT daytona, TT sub, etc - and they look just fine to me (again, personally).

Some people are more OCD than others. I understand and appreciate the OP's concerns. Personally with a leather strap watch I would try to do brown with shoes and belt, black with black shoes and belt. SS will go with all of it, however, I am not a fan of a big sports watch with a suit. I would make an exception with a blue strap and wear that with a non brown suit. Just my two cents

Black and steel goes with everything. I do agree though that if you’re going to wear a leather strap, that strap should match your belt snd shoes to some degree.

Well, Sartorial Dress Code rule 348 states that, “A modern gentleman must remain matchy-matchy at all times, on pain of hurt feelings and enduring insecurity, from being pointed and laughed at by more elegant members of society”.

So I’ve found that if you want to wear a stainless steel bracelet there’s really only one way to go -

Cramps your style a bit in the clubs, football is out of the question with THOSE toes, and rust is a problem in wetter climes, but at least your accessories match, and OBVIOUSLY that’s the main thing.

This! I wear whatever suits my mood. The only time I don’t is if I’m dressing way up! Then I’ll wear a fancy watch, too. Otherwise, anything goes.

Tsk tsk… gothic is sooo last season. OP this is terrible fashion advice. Obviously a Submariner would go so much better with border baron Breton chain mail and a black tabard.

I never coordinate my watch to my clothing. That sounds like it takes a lot of extra effort. In fact, I never coordinate my shoes to my belt either.

Such a scrub. No wonder they won’t let me into the restaurants for dinner!!

Brown belt and shoes, you mean more tan? Only if top quality stylish shoes. Smart dressed Italians can do this look. So careful.

Regardless you can wear any watch with anything.

Matching the strap of a watch to your shoes and belt, is not necessary.

Very true. I have seen my grandfather tend to his garden in a 1950s Hamilton dress watch.

This man speaks the truth. A black or blue Sub will work with pretty much everything outside of the formalist of occasions. I'd second guess a green one, though. I would not deliberately swap the bracelet for a strap to match my belt or shoes, but then again, my friend group is only ex-Navy degenerates, attorneys, CPAs & one anesthetist. We aren't exactly fashion-forward. No invites to the Met Gala coming this way anytime soon.

There are a few non Rolexes out there on blue bands, but I hesitate to buy because I wear brown belts and shoes with blue suits and I’m not sure if it will go.

I have worn bracelet watches with a suit, but on the days that I care, I'll put on a thin dressy watch on croc or lizard.

Black dial goes with virtually anything - it's one of the primary reasons it is so enduring and never out of style in my opinion.

At one point I was wearing a tux several times a month, but these days I typically wear hawaiian-type shirts and wear whatever watch I please. I do try to be conscious of matching to some degree - my bright red Casioak with a suit just wouldn't do as an example.

But a stainless steel or a two tone Rolex on a bracelet with a suit you can't go too wrong with that at all in my experience. Personally, I would not do a hulk with a blue suit as I am not a fan of that blue/green match, but I am not going to fault someone else for wearing it - it's just not my own style.

Otherwise, these really are first world problems...yet, I enjoy the conversation.

In my case, I try to avoid clashing more than trying to ctually colour match. I wouldn't wear my TT blue Sub with a green shirt, for example. With that, I'd wear a white or silver dial piece, like the YM pt dial, for instance. The colour clash is a personal thing, of course.
