It is very easy to see, the 001 is the only 'R' not compromised by the revised city ring design of the 5230.

Both excellent watches. You can't go wrong with either.

It's funny how you say they are around the same price as I paid over twice as much for the 5270G as the 5131R, as I purchased both of mine from an AD.

Right now the price is more or less the same. Maybe the 5131 is even higher depending on the condition

Yeah the 5131 is selling way above list price and 5270 way below list price.

IMO the 5270 has an awesome movement and mechanically something else. Not many watch manufacturers even make a perpetual calendar Chrono watch. The 5131 enamel dial is a work of art though. Patek world timers are fairly common and easily seen on AD windows (5230 or 5130), but not many people can produce the enamel WT dials like Patek.

look at oryx's and you'll feel better. some dials have more subtle gradation others more abrupt. i think it looks fine.
