One of the weirdest things about dials to me, and blue dials in particular, is how often they look so different when you see them in the flesh as opposed of photos. I don't think I'm ever not been a bit surprised, and seen watches I thought I would't like that look amazing and others that I was stoked about about and then was disappointed. Many change dramatically depending on the light, too. That's why I think you should walk around in the store a bit, and get next to a window if possible to really see what's there.

Just buy whatever you like better. Omega watches also have superb quality. It's very durable too. On top of that it's actually cheaper than Rolex |

I bought an Omega Seamster when looking at Subs over 10 years ago...lasted 2 weeks and then returned it for the 14060m. People should be willing to get what they want, but should not simply get what they're willing to settle for.

Man, I just don't like how Omega has tried to price itself into Rolex territory... The used market will tell you what Omega watches are really worth...

Money has nothing to do with it. There is no wrong answer between the two brands. Both are fine watches and I own both and love them equally. These days if I were buying a watch I probably am more in tune with what Omega is doing. Once again, money has nothing to do with it.

Rolex is like, as many have said, global currency. Is Omega?
Buy what you like, but you must buy right. |

Buy what you like don't think about the brand.
As the owner of several Rolex's and an Omega--one thing nice about the Omega is they fly under the radar better. You don't see too many silly online posts labeled: I'm traveling to Spain/Italy/"fill in the blank"--Is it safe to wear my Omega... I do like the looks of the new Omega Globemaster |

Because you have enough confidence in yourself to get what you like and not have a brand define who you are. Every brand has something people like or dislike, don't let your friend discourage you from getting what you really want because he feels he needs to use a price tag to say what he's worth... If you're worried about depreciation then go preowned.

Why?
Because you think the Omega looks better. It's all that matters. |

3 years ago I bought an Omega POC 9300. First comment I received from my friend was "why did you not buy a Rolex?" Fast forward to last month. I bought a BLNR.
Now my Omega POC gets no wrist time and I fully understand my friend's question! |

I just bought another Omega.
They're doing a lot of things right currently and have my interest peaked currently. Rolex not so much... Most are not my taste or simply outside my budget. |

If you want the AD experience more power to you. I prefer not to spend thousands on my bottle of water... You can get the new SM300 for $4500-4800 BNIB or LNIB from a truster seller here shipped to your door tomorrow. I'm not a buyer of this particular model because it doesn't sing to me aesthetically, but the caliber 8400 is the Rolex 3031 (milgauss) and 3135 -- virtually $14000 worth of watch -- all wrapped into one solid package. Again, I love my Rolex watches but there's really something to be said about Omega recently. |

I can afford Rolex and I own many of them. I also own many Omega pieces, and they are awesome - even thought I can afford Rolex. Guess what, I can afford a Daytona, yet my only chrono is a Speedmaster. Why, because I like it more.
Just because you can afford something doesn't mean there are not better, or less expensive alternatives. I can afford a Ferrari - but I don't have one because it would not be a prudent way to spend my money nor do I believe that it is $140,000 better than a Porsche 911. In that same vein, maybe some don't feel that a Sub is $4,000 better than a Planet Ocean.....and guess what, it is not. I own both and love both, but my PO was half the cost with nearly all the quality. Omega makes a GREAT product and is a company with significant history in horology. Most people on this earth could only dream of owing an Omega timepiece and your friend is going to make you ponder such an acquisition because it is not a Rolex. Oy freakin' vay. Rolex is great, Omega is great, simple as that. Buy what you want and what you like - guess all of us who can afford Patek should be ashamed of buying a Rolex..... |

Because I had my Seamaster for 10 years without service and it still runs within COSC and more accurate than ANY of my newer Rolexes.

You may get a 10% discount, but you'll put the majority of that back on in sales tax... Thus, you're guaranteed to lose every bit of 40%.

I bought the planet ocean because I prefered the look to anything rolex had, not a fan of the sub. Tried on a Daytona and a GMT yesterday and have to say I wasn't blown away, they looked tiny and felt very light, was looking at the TT model in both.
Well I walked out happy with the PO on my wrist. Everyone saying the omega drops in value, so does a rolex. Maybe not as much but I dont buy a watch to sell later, I buy it because I like it and want to wear it. |
