Product sheet at https://www.omegawatches.com/media/p...1001-en-us.pdf
Having been a part of all six lunar missions, the legendary OMEGA Speedmaster is one of the world’s most iconic timepieces. This model has reprised the famous Calibre 321, which was an important part of the Speedmaster’s original space history. The 39.70 mm case is in stainless steel and is inspired by the same 3rd generation style that astronaut Ed White wore during America’s first spacewalk in 1965. There is also a bezel ring in polished black ceramic [ZrO2] with the tachymeter scale in white enamel. The black step dial features familiar Moonwatch hands, a vintage OMEGA logo, as well as a small seconds sub-dial, 30-minute recorder and 12-hour recorder along with a central chronograph hand. Through the sapphire-crystal caseback, you can see the Calibre 321 inside. CALIBRE OMEGA 321b Calibre 321b Famous manual-winding chronograph movement with column wheel mechanism, Breguet balance-spring and 18K Sedna gold PVD coated finish. The calibre that was worn on the Moon. TECHNICAL DATA Between lugs: 19 mm Bracelet: steel Case: Steel Case diameter: 39.7 mm Dial color: Black Crystal: Scratch‑resistant sapphire crystal with anti‑reflective treatment inside Water resistance: 5 bar (50 metres / 167 feet)

If you consider market value for a bnib speedy pro and the fact that this 321 will most likely be had at msrp+tax, this one will cost more than 3x (!!!) the price of the pro. I wonder what level of finishing this new cal. 321 will have to try and justify such a big difference in price.

Price is now on the Omega UK website - £11,300 including tax.
It’s grouped with the FOIS as part of the same “collection”. |

What does “white enamel” mean for the lettering? Is it applied to the ceramic or baked in properly and a permanent part of the insert?

I am glad I am not the only one bulking at the price.
Also a real shame on the water resistance. Hard pass from me for price alone though. Even though I do love it. At 8500 I think they’d be on the money

I don't know. The want is high, but I don't know. I love the design, and size seems perfect.
Will have to think on this one. |

Solves the one problem I had with the modern speedy which was the size. But another problem now presents itself with the price lol

I really love it but the price definitely gives me pause. I could see myself being a buyer if this can be had for a decent discount though.

I guess this speedy is like the AMG version in that it’s one man per engine or in this case movement.

about the same price as a daytonaC....i would argue better looking and definitely more readable. the display caseback is really nice, thats one sexy looking movement!
this is not a "standard" speedy, so hard to compare to the MSRP of that. the 50th anniversary one was nearly $10k and this has the FREAKING 321 movement that people have been begging for and i am sure said would pay more...now that its here, everyone upset. ha! |

$13.5?! Sigh, I’m out at that price... not to mention, the initial grey premium.

The titanium version is like $49K, US, so maybe that will help make the $14K (or whatever) price more acceptable. Me, no, I'm not buying it. LOL. I like it and all, but I'm just not such a huge fan that I'm going to spend that kind of coin for a new (old) movement.

Love everything about it except for the price. Feel like omega understands the current market conditions though and wants to capitalize on any possible grey market premium the watch would have. With 1000-2000 watches a year, I think 13-14k is about what the watch would trade for on the secondary market, so Omega wants to fully realize that rather than sell it for 10k and have it trade on a premium in the secondary.

The risk of course is that at that price point, these end up sitting in AD/OB’s cases and end up getting discounted... and become yet another non-limited omega you can get for 20-30% off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Pardon my ignorance but what is the significance of the "dot over 90" on the tachymetre bezel?

Very interesting release! I can see this one getting popular once people get used to pay the price.
Good size, movement, bracelet and a little more refined than normal. One spec that has not been mentioned yet is the height/thickness. If it comes below 12.5mm would be great. Btw, the lugs do look very long? I think Omega finally realise how they can compete with Daytona if they just follow Rolex playbook with limited supply etc. Edit: Just saw this, Case: 39.7mm diameter x circa 14mm height |

First of all, love everything about this release - apart from the price.
It all comes down to Omega is trying to create a Rolex Daytona of their own - a mythical watch that has general availability but is coveted by collectors and wannabe's which generates years of waiting lists and ability to sell at a premium price. This is Omega's attempt, and it might work. Given that a regular Speedmaster has a street price of $4,200, even with the big box, asking 3 times the price is a reach, but with all the hype that Omega has manage to create over the last 10 years they will probably be able to pull it off. Don't get me wrong, I've always liked the Speedmaster, but growing up it was always the sensible choice. We all knew and respected the moonwatch connection but before Hodinkee, Instagram and watch forums it was all much more sensible. Going back to when I started this hobby in earnest, a Speedy used to be $1,000-$1,200 - always a good choice and respected, but not the type of hype you see today. I miss those days :-) Oh well, I think this new Ed White checks a lot of boxes, but at that price, you might as well go for the real thing. I've put myself on the list for one at AD, hoping one can score a decent discount - at $14,000 + tax at Omega Boutique I'm not really that interested. |

Not sure why folks are balking at the price (not that lower is not better lol). The movement is legendary, the watch an almost exact creation and people are falling all over them selves to plunk down 20’grand for an illegible Daytona with a completely made up “heritage” likely produced at significantly higher numbers than the 321 movement in this watch. Sorry even at this price point it’s a better watch than the Daytona and it’s not close.
