ahahhah. now that is funny stuff. no, i can't imagine water getting in unless its cracked somehow. but truly, i can't even see anything. if its just a minimal scratch, i completely say let it go. gives the watch character.

OK I've had a lot to drink today so it may just be me but I can't see anything ...
Seriously after a good minute looking at it I ended up seeing a smudge on my screen instead. Would 100% leave it until servicing. Don't let it ruin your day. If you had a good day every time you look at the scratch you can remember it. |

Man that stinks but I would just get it fixed and not worry any more about it. If not, you will see it and remember this day every time you see it.

Ok, from what I see, I can try to live with the scratch. My only concern is if water is an issue; if not, then I will let it be and wait until the next service to change the crystal. I have zoomed a picture of it. Upon my examination with a loop, it seems that the scratch is on the surface although it has some depth as I can feel it with the tweezers. It does not appear to be a crack. It starts of thin, then thickens towards the middle and then thins out again. I imagine if it was a crack it would shatter. Your oppinions are greatly appreciated. If I should just leave it alone then so be it and we can all go back to our fraps and family and on with this christmas day. I can tell you that if we are all reading anything on this forum our day is great and are well and healthy.
Here is a closer pic. Let me know what you think. ds6.jpg |

I would still leave it. It's quite minor. When's your next service due ? It depends how old the watch is. If it's due for a service anyway in 3 years you could bring that up and get it serviced in two or something. It's a very personal thing. Some people would not be able to get over it and some people would shrug it off. Depends on you. |

I don't know if you know this. If you have the crystal replaced, the laser etched crown will have the "S" inside the hole of the Rolex Logo.

yea, I thought about that but I don't plan on selling it so it wont bother me. The only way I would ever sell it is if the Challenger was to ever come out which I know it won't as rolex will not run the deepsea for such a short time. I know that if they released the deepsea, its going to be for the long haul and them releasing the Challenger would only mean that they regret having released the deepsea. I don't think they can have two sea dwellers; that is not how they work. The DSSD is too new for it to have any collector value at this time.

Sorry to hear that. Is it your daily beater watch? I would just wear it for a few weeks and if it still bugs you get it replaced.

Absolutely ignore it and wear it to it's fullest!!!!
Get it replaced when it gets overhauled by Rolex. I don't really see the scratch in the pics...I see something but if that's it...who cares for now. |

No. It is part of my rotation although its my favorite and if it was my choice I would keep this one. I have a SubLVC and a K series pepsi gmt2. I wear them for a week at a time. This works out well because at the end of each week you look forward to wearing the next one. But since this is my favorite, I decided to wear it for the holidays......and now look what happened.

It would bother me. Clearly it bothers you too. Get it fixed, you won't be happy till you do.

Eddie, I must admit I had a hard time finding that scratch on the crystal. I usually don't care about them myself but if it really bothers you you could always try, as stated above, diamond paste before paying for a new crystal as I doubt it is deep enough to jeopardize the watch's water resistance.
