So is it going to be a 210 next then? I tried one on at the GTG a few weeks ago and it was gorgeous - sits lower on the wrist and not as in your face as the Luminor - love the Luminor tho!

After seeing the original picture in this thread, I was going to say, "Cat owner, eh" -or- perhaps "avid rose gardner?"... Personally, I'm somewhat ambivalent about the brand. As for personality types associated w/Panerai, like Rolex, I think it defies stereotypes. I've noticed Jay Leno seems to wear one, as does Hugh Grant. They're hard to miss when seen. Enjoy for whatever reasons you choose. Making choices for yourself is the only true freedom you have. No need to rationalize them to anyone.

Thats what I said, I do not like really big watches, even though that is the current fad. So I got a PAM 40mm, same size as the Rolex Sport Model, and could not be happier. Has a really different look with the square style case. The dial is so easy to read, and the crown protector is very unique.

Don't worry pal, my 190 looks great on Dylan, and he is only two inches taller than you. BTW/ he turns 4 next month.

You should try a 40mm PAM, more in keeping with the size of the Rolex Sport models. Does not "Bling" as much or stand out as much as the larger 44mms.

I think both Rolex and Panerais are good watches, both with a unique history. Both gained their rep for making "tool" watches. Rolex seems to be going away from that. And many are buying PAMs for more of fashion, it is the current fad here in Asia to have really large watches (especially with the women), rather than to use as a dive watch over your dry suit.

The Lum is much better on the PAMs though and the crystal does not show all your fingersprints and smudges like the Rolex does. I think a good collection would be to have one Rolex and one PAM.

There are genreally a couple sizes of PAM's
40mm, 42 ( few Radiomirs) 44, 45 and 47
Two basic cases, Radiomirs and Luminors.
PAM = PAnerai Model ie a PAM50 is the model 50 run .
44mm Luminors are "standard, but there are quite a few 40mm out there.
45 is the size for the "standard Radiomir"
47 seems to be reserved for Special Edition runs that commemorate the 1930-1950 watches worn by the Italian Navy.
Here are some Rad's 42, 47 and 45mm respectively

Here's a mixed bag

What does the alarm sound like? Can it be combined with a SS bracelet? What is MRSP?

Thanks

Mike

Not sure the US MSRP, In Canada I think it was around $8300
THe alarm is more like a buzzer. A really loud mosquito. It will run around 8-11 seconds on a separate power reserve.
No metal bracelets that I am aware of. Yeah it is one of my favourites for sure.

I really like it cause of its size - Panerai's big sizes would dominate my wrist. 42 would really be pushing it, but I really like it.

With Panerai's is it the more complicated the more expensive?

Thanks again

The 42mm Radiomir I tried on wore about the same as a 40mm Rolex Explorer. Very thin case and the movement was made by JLC.

Damn, should have bought it. (But then again the cost was $7200 and that is enough to travel on for 6 months!)
