Rolex and birks - two things that don't go together. Rolex watches are built like tanks. Birks fall apart under light use.

Well, I suppose that they're both priced as if they were high quality...

Wow, sorry to see that. That’s the sort of scratch you get from attempting to open a case back with the wrong tool. It’s going to need a new case back. No refinishing is making that look like it did before the scratch because of the engraving.

Just to check; are you 100% certain the store sent it to RSC or is there a chance they used some hack round the corner from them and told you it’s off to Tudor? Either way it’s not your problem but I want to make sure the mob chases the right monster.

Did rsc st james square do this damge ?they have alaways been careful on my rolexes and tudors Rolex will not be able to replace the case back as it's numbered.i dont think harrods could help either.you will probably have to live with the scratch ,buffing it will make it worse.a replacement watch your number will be in the late 2000 to 3000 instead of the lowish number on your case

Very interested to hear what they say. Obviously the usual offer would be to buff/polish it out but as it’s engraved I’m not sure what their solution would be! Please keep us updated.

Wow, that's dreadful. The scratch will never be removed, it's the surrounding area which is buffed down to match the depth of the scratch.

Simply unacceptable. I understand and agree with your upset; hopefully, it will be properly fixed for you.

First of all, love the Birkenstocks.

Second, that is unacceptable. I'm pretty forgiving of micro-imperfections, but to send in a watch for service and have it return worse is never alright.

RSC left me a nice gift on my caseback

That totally sucks! I agree with that being the one place they cannot scratch this watch especially. Geez!

It’s not like it’s easy to scratch the caseback, but since I can’t see pics, I’ll have to take your “nasty” comment as it being bad. Even if minor, it should not happen.

I used to own BMW cars, and I loved each one, but ultimately service let them down and no matter where I took it, no one treated it like their own. In SDGO, the guy who drove them off, would always jump into them with his jacket unzipped, slapping his heavy zipper against the paint, then hang his foot out as he drove, stopping fast, making the door swing unnaturally fast open, occasionally bumping into things. It ultimately made me decide to move away from BMW vehicles altogether and I had owned six of them.

That said, I have had nothing but positive experiences with the quality of work at RSC Beverly Hills.

Another RSC horror story. Seems all too common.

Bad news. Hope it gets fixed. If not, you have the serenity prayer right there in your sig. Maybe that'll help. :)

If I showed you what Rolex NYC did to my sd4k, you’d think this was nothing at all. Dust and lint under the dial, scratched hands, and it looks like the caseback opener slipped because the threads on the back of the watch are all scratched.

Great watch, sorry it was damaged. Hopefully RSC is able to re-engrave a new caseback for you and simply confiscate the old one.

I also called RSC in TO and spoke with the manager Danielle. She said as soon as it’s in her hands she will be in touch with me.

To say I’m crushed is an understatement. I love this watch.

If the scratch was on the case sides, lugs, bracelet I wouldn’t care so much because those areas are going to be scratched from wearing it. But right on the engraving etc, that hurts.

It’s quite deep, obviously it can be polished out but not without impacting the engraving. Just shitty all around.

If I were you, I will request to replace the case back, and put all engraving in.

Well, now I'm intrigued! Like when you witness a car accident and you want to look away, but you just can't. SHARE THE PICS MAN!

I'm a retired AD and watchmaker. That scratch is totally unacceptable.

Trust me, it is too deep to be buffed out, so the only logical solution is a new case back. Once the back is replaced and the gaskets tested, you are good to go.

Still ..... it totally should not have happened in the first place.

My condolences, Craig.

So they are doing everything right to fix it. I would have posted after the repair of the scratch, if there was still an issue.

I just can't imagine how that could have happened. The caseback opener should not create anything like that scratch. Very strange!

Hah, if I didn't know any better, I would have said that was a pre-owned watch but repackaged as a new one.

That's not one or two scratches- that's literal wear.

It wasn’t a new watch when it went for warranty work. There is likely to be wear on it.

As I said, it looks like the mark you get from a generic tool (like a jaxa) that has slipped while trying to open it.

Don’t know where you got this info from. The watch is brand new, I wore it about 5 times around the house.

All scratches are from the service Center.

That is just insane that they sent a watch back to you in that condition. These reports seem to becoming more and more common with RSC. I don't know what is going on at that place. It's too the point that you don't want to even send a watch to them unless it's something really severe and you have no other choice. Really hope this gets resolved

Sadly this is a somewhat common occurence.

I sent my DJ in to RSC Dallas for slow running.

It came back with not one, but TWO sets of (4) scratch marks from installing the bracelet spring bars (one from the AD and one from RSC, I assume) as well as 3-4 new scratched on the sides, where a watch vice would bear.

Eh, what are you gonna do!

That scratch is a deusey! Hard to imagine how it happened.
