Rolex swapped my Tudor GMT movement out three times and the date wheel failed each time afterwards. They simply can't fix it. Sell it while you still can. There are much better options out there like a Ball GMT.

Well, call me an idiot but all this is too much fuss for nothing imo. I'm actually planning to keep it and fix it every time it breaks. If it does, again. For the record, it was a matter of stopping and not a date change issue this time. Because let's face it: If I decided to sell, how much would I be getting for it? 2k? From some clown later trying to sell it for 3,5K to folks having no clue about the (potential) problems? Of course I could try being that clown myself, asking for those 3,5K I would probably never get as private seller... So where does this leave us? Practically speaking. 2K do not buy me another one, or any other watch on par. I will keep wearing and beating the crap out of it for as long as it can take it. If it breaks, so be it. If it can be fixed under warranty, so much the better. If out of warranty and in the unlikely event that Rolex won't be willing to foot the bill for fixing known issues, I'll have to pay like what? 350€? That buys me another 2 years of service warranty. If you can afford a 4k watch, I guess 400 after 3 & 1/2 or 5 years aren't much of an issue, right? Because that's the worst case scenario. Not exactly the end of the world, huh? |

It’s certainly a dilemma Basil.

42mm and built like Thor's hammer. (they also make it in 40mm). Best bang for the buck.

I can see how this can be annoying if not frustrating to many, when a pricey product falls short of their expectations. Rolex is no car dealership though and they will even go the extra mile and fix even out of warranty as already documented.
On my mind, it all makes for a perfect justification to wear as a beater 24/7 without seconds thoughts. |
