I’m sure we all can.
As for who AB is,

Common aging of these dials on this reference. Definitely a look that's not for everyone, but also this sort of aging is attractive to many. The deep patina on the tritium helps the overall look. Provenance is a plus, to anyone who is a big fan of Alton Brown's Good Eats growing up.

Unfortunate that you find yourself in the Vintage Rolex subform, where most of the allure of the watch is that it is very old and very used.

I think it looks unique and dial looks stable... and if I were someone, who had say a whole bunch of 37 and 40mm subs, I'd want them all to look aesthetically different - I say that as someone who doesn't like n.o.s/museum pieces one bit.
$14k strong, but $11-12k be a nice addition to an eclectic interesting collection.

Well, I get the appeal of aged, used, shabby-chic, character, whatever you want to call it .... but the Sub in question does not fit any of those categories. That's just a straight-up damaged dial that could continue to get worse over time. There's a difference.

TBH, I would have fun wearing that watch at the right price. But for me, it would have to be at a discount, and I know that wouldn't happen because some people would pay a premium for it.

FWIW, it appears this Seamaster (https://wannabuyawatch.com/product/o...al-circa-1966/) was also owned by Alton Brown. Appears he's having WBAW unload several of his watches--there was a Tudor as well, but it already sold.

I've always been a bigger admirer of Giada De Laurentiis, but I don't think I'd wear any of her watches. :)

How bizarre to include all of that detail and NOT mention that this 6263 has a service bezel. I don’t have any issues whatsoever with service bezels, but it makes a big difference to the value and should absolutely be mentioned. Oddly, the service pushers are mentioned, so either WBAW is being sneaky or just don’t recognize a service bezel, which would raise other concerns.

Also, not sure I’ve seen a Rolex guarantee paper with a serial number typed in that style. Not the norm. Would definitely require more research.

Sick and tired of dealers trying to sell damaged dials as 'tropical'. It's stupid.

Counterproductive, even.

I'd never buy from such "dealers"!

Why not? If you know what you’re looking at, and how differentiate between damaged and “tropical” you’ve got no problem. Now, if, on principle it bothers you, then sure, move on. I bought a gilt 1016 from one of these “dealers” back in 2017 for a very good price, and sold it a year and change later for a LOT more. Point being, some of these “dealers” still can be very worthwhile.
