My BLNR is amore of a true true blue. The various inserts i have seen look consistent. My BLRO is a much drker shade of blue than the BLNR, it is more of an indigo blue.

That's the point though. I wonder why they've chosen to make all these inconsistent blue hues that they apparently can't make the exact same, yet they have super consistent blue hue for the BLNR.

Maybe it doesn't look good against the red.

None of it matches the color look of the aluminum bezel 5-digits which is the standard it should be held to, IMO.

lighting, camera specs, editing, and the color settings of the screen on your monitor, phone, tablet etc you view it on all play a factor on how they look.

even my 16710 Pepsi looks like a coke depending on the lighting. sometimes my sub 41 date bezel looks grey. my chnr sometimes looks like a modern day coke ceramic depending on the lighting.

No they aren’t all the same, three distinct versions.

The BLNR blue scopes out as “cobalt blue” outside sun or incandescent light it registers the same cobalt blue in hue. There is no purple in the BLNR only blue.

Does Pepsi all look the same?

I have owned 3 different white gold, including the first year production, and more than that number in stainless.

There is a widely distinct variation between Mk 1 and Mk2. Beyond Mk 2, the blue and red just get a little darker in Mk 3, onward.

Regarding the color, it’s all internet hype combined with your personal preference. Mk 3 has such a dark red that indoors, under dim lighting, it can look like a coke bezel. That’s why Coke is not a stretch to produce. It’ll be a lot easier to make black and red than it is to make red and blue.

The original white gold Mk 1 was truly purple and pink under many lighting conditions.

So much so, it was lambasted here in this forum,
until the watch became available in stainless.

Then, the hubbub began to die down. Mk 2 colors were much more palatable to the marketplace.

I actually prefer Mk 1.

YMMV.

This is a Bobs Watches pic and one of my first WG BLRO. Outdoors it looked much more purple and pink.

If they could pair that blue with a Rossa Corsa Red, then now we’re talking. That would be my new grail.

I’ve never wanted one until this thread. It’s OK though, as I’ll never be allocated one and won’t have to worry about which tint I would receive. Beautiful watches though and happy for the people that have them!

MK1 to 3 are included, enjoy

I don't own the photos, someone uploaded it to a Hong Kong based forum years ago. (Also believe the photos are taken by a watch enthusiast in Hong Kong)

23 Batgirl and 24 Pepsi

Lucky to have recently acquired examples of both watches...find it interesting when I wear the watches that people who are not watch/Rolex fans all gravitate towards the Batgirl while Rolex officiandos prefer the Pepsi...the hype is real 😆

Truly one of the nicest references ever had definitely top three in the catalog IMO.

You would also think that all of these are different examples, and a lot of that has to do with the lighting and processing of the photos.

You would thing that photo where I am wearing the purple is a "mark 1"

Or does it just look different because of the opposing color.

To my eye, the BLNR is more traditional blue, and the BLRO more purple blue.

You'd think they'd make then the same blue, but perhaps not.

Regardless, IMO, 5-digit Pepsi faded patina bezel >>>>>> to the ceramic 6-digit.
Only way I'd own a 6-digit Pepsi is if it was WG Meteorite.
It is a different blue, and I believe (from reading a few threads over the years, as well as the recent thread on the. new patent filed) the difference is that the starting base of the BLNR is zirconium oxide, while the BLRO is alumina oxide with chromium oxide, magnesium oxide, and a rare earth oxide compound to get red ceramic. The blue part is added before sintering by treated with an aqueous solution containing cobalt.

Someone please correct if I'm wrong there, but I'd guess that this is the part they've tweaked several time over its production span resulting in the changes we observe.

As such, it seems unlikely we'll see the blue from the BLNR on the BLRO bezel. But that patent discussed in the other thread could open the door for a new method that could be relevant here?

FWIW, mine from late 2021 appears quite dark in most lihgt, but does show some purple hue in direct sunlight.

Because there is no red in the BLNR. Blue and red make purple. The entire base of the BLRO is red. They layer the blue over the red.

Clearly differences in the hue of differing bezels, I hope they keep going with the Pepsi ..
