That's very smart - I just got this one yesterday, although not the updated version, but brand new, and I love it.

Hey! Two of your "cuff shots" appeared right next to rolex marketing pics in google pics when I googled "yachtmaster blue new pics". Pretty cool!
Edit: looks like replicas are already on the market now also; buy the seller... |

Stunning - love it. If I ever get a new one again, as opposed to vintage, I think that's it!
Congrats. |

So beautiful. I owned the TT YM with a blue dial, but the new one (your's) blows it away. Stunning.

Wow, I thought I had the platinum dial and this has nothing special. I am wrong! This blue is stunning!

"Rolesium" Oyster case?
The Yacht-Master is a simply stunning dressed in cobalt blue. It looks like an entirely different watch. I've worn a SS Submariner for 22 years and running (still never opened or serviced, runs every day), but have seriously considered getting a Yacht-Master for the past several years. The only thing that held me back was my lack of enthusiasm for the platinum-colored dial face. To me, it made the watch just too monochromatic, and I never could pull the trigger. I always wished Rolex would offer a white (a la Explorer II) or blue dial -- something that would offer a little contrast. Now that I've seen pictures of this cobalt blue face, I'm frankly blown away. My dream-come-true watch, and I think my trusty Sub may soon be making retirement plans ...
Meanwhile, does anyone here know much about the case material? The initial reporting of this watch said that the Oyster case is apparently made of Rolesium, "an alloy of 904L stainless steel developed by Rolex". Assuming that the bezel is still platinum, are we to conclude that the total platinum content is higher than the standard platinum-dialed/platinum-bezeled Yacht-Master? Does anyone have a link that offers any information on this? |

i guess the platinum content is the same except for the dial which is PT950 on the old ym. i really dont understand much why rolex introduced this as a new reference. very very slight change, like the bezel mechanism which is not visible from the outside and the shorter end link.

The platinum dial YM does have more platinum and costs more than the blue YM.

Up until last Thursday I owned a SS platinum YM for 12 years and it is no where to be found. I was at my AD this morning to initiate the process for replacement and they told me the costs are the same for the blue and the standard YM. My guess is there will be no discounts on the new blue YM but after reviewing this thread I am prepared to a) pay list unless someone has a referral to an AD who will deal and b) wait as their first one is sold.
My YM was an amazing watch, serviced every 5 years by Rolex and had significant sentimental value. Thank you to the OP for posting these pics as that made my decision to go "blue" much easier. |

Sorry to hijack, my wife was at AD in NYC today and snapped these with her iphone. I think she did a pretty good job. These photos are completely untouched; the blue looks great she says.

I"ve got my eye on this one. I hope I am not out of line but what is the price for this one. The AD doesn't have pricing yet.
Thank you. |
