These are great sandals. I have have two pairs. One with a leather post and one with a fabric as pictured above. I got the fabric pair second. If I had gotten them first I would never have gotten a second pair. I never wear the leather post pair anymore. Even though the leather post costs more and therefore may make it appear as if that makes it better IMO they are not nearly as comfortable. Not uncomfortable just don’t come close to the fabric.

I’ve been a flip flop connoisseur for 25+ yrs. they’re certainly the best I’ve ever experienced. I was happy with my reefs until a buddy told me to try his olukais on. I was hooked and recommend them to any one that wants some incredible flip flops. Trying to get my wife to try them but she likes her vionics.

The right shoes for the occasion is key... Recently picked up these tennis shoes. Didn't make me play better but my feet were very happy!

Barefoot Shoes - my recommendation

I will not recommend any specific brand lest it be considered advertising. But I would like to recommend the type of shoes. Barefoot Shoes are natural footwear without arch support that promotes natural foot strength and improved control. We are born to walk on a flat surface and then useless things are imposed on us that make our feet weak and painful.

I would avoid runners (unless at the gym), flip-flops/thongs (unless at the beach), and espadrilles like the abovementioned Toms (for that vibe, get a decent loafer instead).
I second the Stan Smiths. I've been wearing them since the 80's. They (and I) go in and out of style, but they are seen often. The new ones are much less painful to break in than the old ones with the low-carbon steel tongue...

Good choice Jim. While I cringe at what I wrote four years ago (who the hell am I to tell anyone what to wear!?), you can’t go wrong with Stan Smiths, can you.

For my nice casual driving shoes I have Tods. But I have several pairs of Nordstrom’s house brand driving moccasins that have worked out great at about 1/10th the price.

Also a fan of the zerogrand Cole Haan shoes. They seem well constructed enough and fit the casual to semi-casual bill really well.

A year ago I discovered barefoot shoes and completely revised my principles when choosing shoes. The wide toe box and lack of arch support make my feet feel natural. Yes, they have a strange design, but you get used to it. Now they even seem stylish to me :)
