It's either a fake, or he's a jerk. Don't worry, you have TRF to share your watch affinity with!

Wow, didn't expect this many responses. I've cooled off. Maybe he had to leave or something. He did leave after I asked to see it. I just can't believe he would have bought a fake one, but it did seem like he wouldn't let me see it much. I never got a good look at it. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and see if he let's me see it sometime. It is not like I've never seen one before. I've tried it on many times as I almost bought it. I would have just thought he would be really excited to show it to me. I know I love showing my watch to other enthusiasts.

Well, give it a rest for a bit. Next time you start chatting about watches (if he's wearing his Expy2), ask him where he got it, how he likes it, etc. This may help you determine if its a fake. Then ask why he wouldn't let you see it before. If he says no again, then say that you're disappointed that you shared your watches with him, and he won't reciprocate.

90% probability that it's fake. Either way, the guy seems shady.

Sounds like a bully/manipulator.
He asks to see yours. He asks to see it in front of others. You comply. If you didn't then he probably would have manipulated the scene and made you look bad.
He is in power.

Next scene.
You see he is wearing a new Rolex. You ask to see it. He denies. WTF. You don't understand. You're confused.
He is in control again. He has the power.

He is regretting that he just got the best REPLICA ever BUT paid a LOT of $$ for it that could have been used as a downpayment for the REAL ROLEX he wanted.
Sounds like a fool.
A fool with issues.
Avoid him.

That's my first thought as well. Or in his personality trait, he is an extremely selfish person and only cares about himself

Look maybe you are all being too harsh on the guy. It may be such a new treasure to him that his trust threshold for anybody else handling it at the moment is very high(or he might even have a touch of OCD in relation his possessions).
I know its hard not to take it personally given you have been so considerate to him. But I'd leave it with the comment that its looks great and after he wears it in you wouldn't mind a try on closer look. Leave the ball in his court to reciprocate and also has the covert implication that he won't be handling yours until this happens!

My first thought was a fake, since he wanted to see yours up close.
Anyway, now you have a new set of "rules".

Forget it.

Good point. I used to take my Sub off to show people and allow them to handle it, not now. What happens if they drop it? They can look at it on my wrist. However if the chap did not even give the opportunity to do that I would not give him any more of your time.

I have someone similar in work. Every time he sees me, he asks, "Is it still ticking?" Sigh... The world is full of drongos, as our Australian cousins might put it..

Well let me tell you my wife say's a have a cleaning disorder, but MY watch dosen't go off my wirst for any one, greasey, sweaty hand's and they way they hold your watch is a joke! I've had my first watch it was a $700 citzern 'seamaster' , bought it with my very first pay, when i was sixteen! A gentleman across from me at the table i was sitting at at a wedding, saw it and asked to see it closer, he asked me to take it off and then i did. as he was looking at it showing he's wife he smacked the front bezel against a plate and scratched it, only on passing it over to me , until i went to the toilet under the bright light my worst fears were confirmed!!! sratched heavily and marked on the bezel! That was a cheap watch, compard to my fathers daytona!!But i will never take my watch off again, Unless it's someone who really understands !!!And as always they are alway's sorry , well thats what he said to me 'it'll be o.k son' and ' don't worry i can't see any sratche's ' Go figure!!! SO DON'T TAKE IT OFF, I SAY LET THEM STEW !!! HA.

Well, I had another meeting with him. It happens all the time. Well, he immediately check out my sub I was wearing. I had it on a nato and he looked disappointed...

He had just got his new Rolex and he wasn't wearing it???? He knew he was meeting me so I guess he is avoiding wearing it around me now. Also, he had no clue how much my sub and gmt iic costs. He said, what did you pay for the two of them, like $6000 total?!?!?!?

I still can't believe he bought a fake, but this is NOT adding up....

Maybe it was his uncle's watch? He borrowed it to show off to you that one particular day, then gave it back to his relative.

Whether or not he got a fake, it seems pretty obvious that he's into the social powerplay / manipulation thing.

I'd just cut off all communications with the guy that wasn't necessary. Remember that part of being a person of discriminating taste lies in who you choose to *not* hang around with.

the look of disappointment in his face tells the whole story. he bought crap and wont wear it now because he will be outted. He'll probably start telling folks that he wont wear his out of fear that he'll ruin it.
