Nothing like a blue dial Rolex, that would be the only way for me.

I'd go with the Smurf if I were to go with a PM Sub. From your YG choices I'd prefer the black dial hands down. That contrast does look stunning.

I prefer the black dial with YG. The blue for me, just doesn't work.

I realized that the OP was talking full gold.

I was just excited to participate. My collection requires a little imagination to visualize it in full gold.

I think I'm one of the few people that loves yellow gold but isn't in love with the 116618. The dial is fantastic when you're in the sun but

1. I prefer green with yellow gold.
2. The blue bezel on the 116618 is a bit much for me.

For me the black is too beautiful to be compared at all.

Just an update - I do appreciate all the insight and pics. Starting out I was really feeling the black - thought it toned it down a bit and really liked it. After seeing all the pics and getting all the feedback I find myself now leaning towards the blue. I love the diversity and tones of the blue - from a gleaming sunburst to a toned dark blue depending on the lighting.

Now the question - do I buy it outright or do trade my Black Daytona C towards it. Been debating if I’d miss the Daytona and if I see a need for both in the collection. I tend to wear the Daytona when going out - the gold Submariner would fill this space

That’s the thought that’s been rolling around in my head the past week -

Up to you really, if you even remotely like wearing the Daytona you will miss it in my opinion.

I rarely trade watches, but I have twice. The feel of one to the other is on another level. You will feel how much more premium the YG feels. But that also is a super desirable SS Rolex which make me say maybe stretch and try and keep it.

Imo...this particular watch setup (yellow gold submariner) has to be blue. The sunburst blue against that gold just goes together so well

I'd get the black, only because I have a Bluesy. They're both stunners, for sure, and equally as bada$s.

I vote blue. I'm going to own a bluesy one of these days. I think the blue and yellow gold go well together.
