Was happy to find a buyer at $5000 when I sold it 7 or so years ago and would be happy to find one in the same condition for $10,000 today...oops

Is there a Skydweller in the console?

Ohh....last year, nevermind.

I had a SD43 that was super uncomfortable on my wrist, but I loved the watch/look. It's easy for me now to look at pictures and forget about the wrist pain. I actually made myself a video at the time I sold it, telling myself hey listen you fool, this thing hurts your wrist, trust me, DO NOT re-buy it. Sometimes I go back and rewatch that haha.

But the same principle applies to other pieces. And I've learned this through re-buying too. Many times I've sold a piece for some reason, then missed it, then re-bought it, then sold it again!! I've lost money this way, when I could have just trusted my original decision.
Great post, and great advice.

Regrets I've had a few, but none of these I sold/swapped:
CHNR
DSSD JC
Tudor BB GMT
Soon, my BLNR.
Not one second of remorse. Don't miss any of them.

Sold my whole collection to bail myself out and pay for lawyers when I got in trouble when I was younger. Breitling Bentley GT, TT DJ 36 and AP Royal Oak Offshore. 12 Years later all back on track and building again. Replaced my Breitling 2 years ago with same model and after a couple of Tudors just bought a 216570.

I’ve never regretted hiring great counsel when needed. I did not have to sell any Watches to do so, but definitely would if I needed to.

The BLNR. It’s the only watch I’ve owned that I wish I could buy at MSRP now.

My 6263 PN white dial and my 6538 4 line Big Crown Sub. Both were in pristine untouched condition. Both now sit in Morgan King’s collection which is one of the craziest of anyone I know. Those who know know.

My 116523 Daytona. Set me on a downward spending spiral trying to replace the magic ever since.

Bought it at the height of Covid in 2020 when everyone was in a panic for an incredible price. Now it’s double that to replace it.

I’ve sold both a 2015 BLNR and an F series black 16570 because on both occasions i needed the money. And i regretted selling both at the time and both ever since! And i knew that owning either again would cost more than i’d be willing to pay, and that’s proved painfully correct. I will try not to make the same mistake again with my 124270 but you never know. Needs must…

Been there, done that with the same watch

It’s still not all that comfortable, but I convinced myself it’s just too damn good looking on my wrist

I wouldn't exactly say "regret" but I certainly miss my 16610LV.

I regret, at least to a degree, the sale/trade of almost every watch that I’ve parted with. There was a part of me that wanted the watch and a part of me that didn’t. Neither part has been eliminated. It’s just the part that didn’t want it won over at the time.

I regretfully sold my first Rolex a 1982 model 16753 TT GMT Master on jubilee. I bought it in 2000 and sold in 2006 to fund the purchase of a new 16613 Blue Sub. I still have the Blue Sub!

I have since bought, sold, and traded other models, but letting the first one go was a blunder.

Cheers, Tim

Seamaster. I was my first real watch which I sold because I needed money for my wedding.

Wish to keep it but it's been a long running story for me. Ain't buying another but the Seamaster has a lot of meaning in my life.

16600. It has been my favorite Rolex. May make some moves and add it back, but fairly happy with my collection as is.

My only regret was to sell my YM 116622 pt dial.

Reason for selling was to fund the purchase of my TT blue Sub 126613LB. Although I didn't need to sell, it kind of felt right at the time but so wrong shortly after. The pain was excruciating. I lost sleep over it, couldn't believe what I had done. So many great holiday memories at the beach with my wife and baby kids. Man I felt stupid. A bad case of seller's remorse.

I missed it so much that I had to buy it back after 10 days without it. I contacted the dealer I'd sold it to and luckily they still had it, untouched, unpolished. Cost of the lesson: €1,500. I felt stupid again, yet relieved.

Oh well, you live and you learn.

The culprit:

Watches (stuff) are silly compared to loved ones.
Thanks for reminding me.

My 116710LN. My first Rolex and my first love. Sold it to fund a 126710 BLRO. Should have kept it.

My 16753 stalled on me while on a trip to Tahoe. I didn’t have the money at the time to send it to RSC, so I sold it on for what I could get and bought a Bremont. It made $6,250 CAD in 2019 and was a very sad day.

Unlike many other vintage lovers, I like my vintage pieces to look brand new and to work perfectly; my 16753 had, at some point, had a service dial and handset, so the lume worked. Yet the dial also had some sun damage and had changed colour to a rich burgundy/purple. I’ve spent hours trying to find one like it with a tropical service dial, and I can’t find one anywhere.

That was, likely, my biggest watch-selling regret. Bad Steven.

My 16710, but only for financial reasons. If I had waited another year or so could have doubled what I got for it on trade. Put it towards my SD43 and have never regretted that decision. But a year later I could have almost made it an even trade!
