Say nothing, deny it was you venting on this forum if needs be, even if the use extreme measures on you!

Be really nice to the SA - it would be your best chance to get something from them in future especially as the SA might feel miffed themselves and would indeed put you in mind another time.

There's many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip' as they say.

If the OP really thinks Rolex will care he is sadly mistaken.

The first thing you have to accept as a Rolex buyer/owner is “Rolex does not care about you or what you think”. Rolex is a emotionless machine you must understand going in. It is not a normal company ran like other consumer goods.
This is what all the newbies worried about market prices, grey dealers, etc...can’t fathom. Rolex makes what they want on each piece of product regardless where it goes after it leaves the factory.

OP should write a google review. That might actually do more than writing to Rolex.

But overall, they watch is yours only when its signed, sealed and delivered (paid for and collected). Other than that the AD has no obligations to you. They can cancel or refund your deposit any time, it's just whether or not they care about their reputation with their customer when they do.

I don't know about being upset about not getting your Daytona 116500LN yet. Probably not the best communication method from the AD, but if you expect to receive your Daytona in 6 months or less I think you need to readjust your expectations. Unless you're one of that AD's top 3 customers. IMO another one of those customers expressed interest and you were bumped. Happens in this market and there is really no real wait list at ADs.

You writing to Rolex? Cry me a river please. I'll put on some Justin Timberlake for you. Almost think this is a borderline troll post.
No kidding. AD is under no obligation to sell to a specific customer.

There’s some great comments on here, great advice in some cases. I would say, my gut feeling is in the camp of guys saying it was sold to another customer. That won’t make it feel better, quite the opposite but I absolutely would find another AD in another town and tell them this story, they may actually feel inclined to see if they can help and then get your business...

I get why you are mad about the fact that you received the call and got your hopes up but I think you are closer to getting it because of that mistake. mine was sitting inhte safe for over a month before the owner decided to sell it to me. it's how the game is now.

OP could also just cough up and buy the 116506A and then ask "pretty plz" for a 116500LN.

You have come close and then had your hopes dashed which I can understand is upsetting.

If you are careful not to upset the store owner I think you should be able to turn it to your advantage and bag the next one.

Wait a minute. Since when can't retail store owners have first dibs on merchandise? Put differently, you open a hardware store, and a palette of new hammers arrive, and you choose the best one (whatever that means to you) — is that wrong? Are you obligated to reserve that for some customer on a list? Or you're a dog breeder, and you reserve the pick of a litter for yourself (even if it's a litter of 1 puppy) — again, are you obligated to sell that pup to somebody on a list? Get real. This doesn't meet even the slightest definition of "being screwed." My goodness.

Pretty common actually, only the sales person jumped the gun, you would have never known and that is how it goes.
