LOL....

I have let some colleagues, friends, and family try on my Rolex when asked. Have never been asked by a stranger. If asked by a stranger I'll decide depending on the location, condition and surroundings.

Last weekend was turning my friend onto the idea of buying a nice watch. Had him try in the BLNR and the Sub C. He loved them and is now in the market. I gave him info on this site and he is getting ready to make a purchase.

Let's assume only a good friend would ask, sure. Just be careful and they know what they cost, they will be careful. If a friend who I know a little less I always oblige and after I remove it I take my tie or inside of my suit coat and give her a quick polish as they watch. They get it then and are careful. Stranger, no way. I have never had anyone let me down.

I have a buddy, some times he has money, some times he does not.
He likes to wear nice watches, so, often times I will let him have one of my watches for cost or heavily discounted, with the agreement that I get back for the same price when he is ready to get rid of it. Essentially an insurance deposit.
One time I let him have a nice SS Datejust for $800. He wore it for several months.
Then one night he woke up to find his house on fire. He and his wife made it out safely.
The house was a complete loss.
He was wearing the Rolex, so it made it as well. The band was to small for him so he had put a leather strap on it. So that was burnt pretty good.
I still let him wear pretty much what he wants.

yes its OK to say no if the question comes. if they're sporting a better watch, ask to try theirs.

I bought my first Rolex a DD 1803/8 in 1986 it was used and from around 1963. I still have the watch. I was at dinner with a large group of friends and some people that I didn't know. One of the ladies that I had just met had just bought a TT DJ for her husband and asked to seem my DD. In front of all my friends she said it was a fake.....because it didn't have a hologram.

I'll simply reply by asking if I can take their wife for a test spin.

Friends - no problem. Haven't been asked that question by a stranger or casual acquaintance, but the answer would be no. I suppose the test would be: Is it someone I would let borrow my car?

I've only been asked once and it was a very close friend. My answer was yes and about 3 months later he bought a DateJust. I didn't even receive a commission!

Only friends and family. Complete strangers, hell no!

Couldn't imagine a stranger asking me anyway

Just my two teens and my brother.

My daughter tried my GMT on then asked me if she could have a Sub as a college graduation present one day. I thought...you finish college and Ill gladly you one.

My son, after trying mine on actually said: "I love it. I want to earn my own, use my own money so I can be reminded that I worked for it". Put a smile on my face.

I thought both were super responses.

Brother tried both of mine on and said...wow! Heavy! Expensive! Why would you put so much money into a watch? I guess he just doesn't get it. He glad I have a nice little hobby, though.

As far as friends or strangers? No, has never happened to me.

Depends on how attractive she is. I may just give her my wallet, keys and access to all my bank accounts.

My sister asked to try on my watch and I happily handed it over. I would only do it for good friends and family.
