Sold my 116610LN to give way to the 126610LV in 2021. I'm now on a hunt for a 116610LN again.

Only watches I have regrets on are the ones I didn't buy. 116520 at retail in 2014 and a 116710LN in an AD in Greece on vacation. Went back later that day to get it and they were closed for the afternoon - I was leaving the island 30 mins later.

A 16710 GMT Master II Pepsi, I sold for a 116710 black bezel. It was a late model with no hole lugs. I did sell it for a little more than I bought it for.

Sold a 116520 white dial to fund a hefty tax bill several years ago. I wasn't wearing it much at the time and it was the one watch in my collection that I didn't have an emotional attachment to and at the time felt it was a better financial call to move the watch.

Ive tried to bring myself to buy back in but I honestly have other things on my list I would prefer to have at that current price point.

Why did you regret selling the 16710 for the 116710?

The only one I look back on with regret is my DJ 16014. Got in and out of it clean with a little profit. In the end, the money was so small (relatively) I should have just kept it.

Bought a white 1680 sub in 1978 for $600. Made it a TT by purchasing gold dial, hands, bezel and crown 3 years later. Back when Rolex was much looser with parts.

Traded the full set TT with pristine black dial, hands bezel and crown in on a Yachtmaster in 2001. Got $2500 credit. I REALLY regret that trade-they saw me coming. Will never sell another one.

Dan I think it was about watches you regretted selling…and not those you did not regret selling.

Coral red OP 36. Sold exactly one month before discontinuation... I knew I made a mistake, but it was too late to remedy. Seemingly overnight it went up $5k in price. Still would love to get one again...

Same here. I miss my SD43 because it was my very first Rolex.

I have a Pelagos 39 and SMP 300c which objectively speaking, is great value for money for what you get, and serves the exact same function.

But mechanical watches are emotional purchases and the heart wants what the heart wants.

I’m tempted to buy it back and just forget about Rolex.

Well with those two in your line up you could always add the SD 43 as a rotation watch ... thats what I convinced myself to do

Regret selling the first watch I ever bought, a 2014 Speedmaster Professional that I bought the day I bought my wife’s engagement ring. Sold it last year to consolidate my collection. Didn’t need the funds and I kick myself most days!

Regret 2 an AP Royal Oak 15400 white dial (sold for £18k) for a ceramic Daytona which I didn’t like and sold as well, and an original Kermit because I didn’t like the clasp. Still wish I had both

I did the exact same thing…mine had a mk2 dial and flat 4. Sold it for $5500cad, taking a $1500 loss. Hurts just talking about it.

There are plenty over the years I wish I wouldn’t have sold or traded away, but they all got me to where I am with my current collection. There aren’t any additional watches I feel I really need to have right now, so that must mean I made the right decisions in the past.
