Same here and your slightly unhelpful wording makes me laugh. That is a very diplomatic description.

The financial reward is going to be far too great to pass up and many ADs will get these placed out on the secondary market. At that point, as you suggest, it's every crypto-bro, collector, Instagrammer, watch aficionado...whoever/whatever...for themselves!

The $175 to $200k range seems to be frequently discussed as the market value of this one. I think that's way too low. If you are a Daytona fan, THIS is it. Add all the Rolex lore and hype and there's no reason this isn't $350k+ just like you see for some of the crazy APs and Patek models that are exclusive.
Understood. Yeah, MSRP is meaningless, thankfully the market rules.

Heard from an AD that folks were offering up 200k just to jump to the front of the list. This is a high value watch.

When we return to this thread in a year we can also give an award for the most far-fetched “My AD said…” story.

#1, there is no list and those that think there is one have 0% chance of getting a LeMans

#2, ADs have no clue if and when they’ll see any LeMans, or any other model for that matter. Some will see several. Some will see none.

#3, If someone actually did this they truly are a fool. So, you’d be in to a LeMans at ~$255k??

There is a list, in the form of a CRM. There is a database with your profile and your wishes.

We need to divorce from the concept that the list is a unicorn that doesn't exist.

There is a list, it's just not a simple excel file working FIFO-like.

I agree. There is a list of folks who will purchase a reference if called. "Not FIFO-like" is a good explanation.

I think the watch is beautiful, although it's weird to me that Rolex would make such a throwback to an earlier design. But I think if there weren't rumors of how scarce these watches would be, TRF would spend most of its time discussing how Rolex is charging a $10k premium vs. other WG Daytonas, mainly because it's got a throwback dial on it. And a dot of red on the bezel.
A slight tweak to the movement 4132, making it a 24hr sundial.

The thing is, there isn’t a queue as you say, there’s more like a tree, where the root of the tree is the highest status customer the business has. Extending upwards from there as the branches grow out you get to lesser and lesser VIP status people and then ultimately at the end of one branch there is a stick that is the actual “list” of poors to sell to in case no VIPs bite.

It’s a great system really, I enjoy it a lot!

Thank you. This says it much better than I did.

I have always associated "list" with FIFO - Meaning, you're in a queue. Clearly this does not exist.

There is always an interest list in terms of a CRM related system where the AD tracks your past purchases and stated interests.

I think we can all agree for the LeMans, it's going to be VIPs only and a vast majority will be disappointed. And given the no holds barred system that is at play today, if your AD is locally oriented (i.e., not associated with the national distributors) and/or they sell jewelry, the bar to getting a LeMans at MSRP is much, much higher.

I'm just repeating what I've had a couple of secondary dealers tell me. The first few that hit the secondary are going to be astronomical in price. I'd bet anything they will be well over $250k. Secondary dealers always are giddy to test the market with a new model and we see what it will bear. We see this today with $35k+ green SkyDwellers and $25k+ OP Celebration dials. It's very hard to say what prices will settle at, but it will have to do with production numbers which nobody knows what that is going to look like. I truly am crossing my fingers that the production will be in line with Meteorites, JMs, etc.

The LeMans is a perfect storm. History, heritage, hype, demand...And add whatever other superlatives you want.

Obviously I don't think this makes anybody happy. I know it bothers me, but there's just nothing you can do about it other than hope Rolex might step in. And as several people have stated above, they very likely will not as there is no evidence they ever have.

So, we are left to the free market. Some will get insanely lucky, some will bite the bullet, and most will be forced to move on.

Does no one read the whole thread, but me? The watch was not offered to him, nor did he buy it! He merely had the opportunity to try it on, and wanted to share pics with us. OP, thanks for sharing.

If you pay $200k+ for this watch you really need to go get the health of your mind examined. LOL

It aint worth anywhere near that.

My brother in crystal, check my history and you will see I never ever used the word Queue.

A list can be ordered by many of its column. Alphabetical name, purchase history, date of inquiry, etc.

My intuition is that each AD has its own scoring system, probably a combination such as :

(DR/360) * (tSH) * (r12SH)/2

Where DR = Days since request, tSH = Total Spend History and r12SH = Rolling 12 spend history.

You then get sorted using this scoring system, and they look at it from the top.

Never bought anything ? Your score is 0. Bought for 5k? After a month your score is 12.5, after a year it goes back to 5.
Bought for 100k? You get to the top.

I was just recently in Stuttgart, and got to see this watch in person. The salesperson at Wempe, was nice enough to let me look at the watch, and try it on. It is a very nice piece.

FWIW, I don't read the whole thread before replying to a post. Not if the post is on the front page and is new to me. I do read entire threads of older posts before considering replying.

And clearly from the responses, perhaps half of responders don't read the whole thread, either. I imagine there would be far fewer responses to posts if reading the whole thread were a mandatory requirement.
