I suspect the OP was duped, too. I don't think a counterfeiter would use a forum to try to "improve" his fakes. I also don't think one would stick around and take the abuse once detected.
I also think posts about fakes are educational. I would not tolerate a post trying to sell a fake, but discussions about what marks a counterfeit as a fake are useful, I think. |

Not sure why people think counterfeiters in this age need to go on the internet to "test" their fakes. There are a million ways to compare a real Rolex to a fake and someone really doesn't need to post on a forum and get abused to find those differences. I'm sure the people making fake watches can get the real thing. What they can't get are the precision machines required to make a real Rolex. That's why the details are always wrong. I would feel bad for the guy, but I'm also starting to think that the guy got scammed. Hopefully he didn't pay too much. Judging by his profile, he seems like a young guy who doesn't really know what he is doing when it comes to this stuff. Still a great thread though. The things lost in translation have been amusing. |

The OP may very well have gotten scammed, but if he did, by now there should be a post relaying what happened when he took the watch back to the "AD" he bought it from. The fact that there isn't makes me doubt that he got scammed is a possibility. If it were my $7,000 (give or take) on the line, you can bet I'd have dropped everything and gotten to the bottom of it.

If he's naive or on a fishing expedition is still a mystery, but in a world full of fake watches if you think your Rolex is 'unique' it means you're in trouble.

We look after our own, Starsky. Pay attention, I'm educating you. He didn't say it was HE who bought it from the AD. It was what he was told and what the paperwork said. And don't judge people by yourself. People don't normally seek to impress foreigners they can't even communicate with properly with questions about why their Rolex issue suspiciously different from the rest |

the op's story doesn't seem consistent on the russian forum either. where bought, price paid, dates...? the most important post on that site finally put 2&2 together when the low price the op seems to have paid likely proves its a fake. therefore, an "autopsy" (that word is used a lot there. think it means open the caseback) is not required. its overall an interesting read but, there's no doubt we should be proud of our forum members and mods. this is the best watch forum! |
