Id be curious too because I checked completed and sold auctions on eBay and there were no 5212s listed. There may have been a scam auction posted for 29K that was removed because it was too good to be true and probably from a seller with 0 feedback.

This morning I woke up to a C24 alert for a 5212A for 36K in euro. Two hours later I wanted to post the link here and it was already gone
But prices are still coming down, ladies and gentlemen prepare for landing |

I still find it silly that Steel instantly means prices will be jacked up.
Since when did Steel become the thing? Steel Sports watches, I understand, somewhat. But Steel in "regular" watches... why's that a thing? |

Because Patek has a very limited production of steel models which makes it rare and desirable. People want something that others do not have and not be one of the many. Also, if you look at the value of the gold in a watch you'll see that it does not warrant the price of the watch. |

I meant why do we care for Steel so much. I can't quite figure it out. |

Your not alone. It's lovely in person when I tried it on, nice lugs, but the price and demand is unwarranted. Once the hype dies down shouldn't be a hard model to source at discount like many other "unique" Pateks that came before it.

Reading old threads people thought 5524 would hold. Now I'm waiting for the bottom.

I saw the 5524G a couple of times recently (pre-lockdown), so do seem to be quite available. Unfortunately too large and not my style

Its quite odd to be honest and inelegant for a Patek, I’d expect that from AP though (Boom!)

Yes, actually tried it on right after the 5212, liked the 5524 and the useful travel time complication instead of looking through 5 hands on the 5212. It was "available" while the 5212 was "not available". 5524 has softened quite a bit and I think there is so more to go.

I was offered a bnib 5524 for $34k from a private seller in Dubai and turned it down . The thing has crashed.
Let’s see where this one goes. |

I heard there's still a line for the 5212, but also heard the supplies were good, so I'd imagine demand to get filled up in the coming months.

I also fell for and was close to buying a 5212 until I saw one in the metal.
The dial is always shown larger that the others of the same size in the catalogue etc. I wondered why until I saw the dial was actually too small making the hands difficult to read IMO. I went right off it - sadly - as I had my name on three AD’s lists and was assured I would get one in January. The other niggle I had with it was that if left to unwind it required a bit of a fiddle to get the week marker back to where it belonged - not that it would serve me any purpose as I don’t run a factory or use week numbers - but it would have annoyed me if it were wrong. Mad I know! |

With regards to the 5212A, the quickset of the date doesn't change the day or week, so the only way to set the day and/or week without using the pushers is to actually set the time forward by 24 hours at a time - but even that wouldn't work if you were in a month without 31 days as the date would no longer be correct to the day. |

My 5212 is waiting for me to pickup. I’ve ordered a Matt black alligator strap with contrasting stitching in a lightish grey colour.
If you google 5212a review video From Watchbox, there is a great review of the watch on this strap. It’s looks great! |

Hi Captainbob, this is the exact strap I am after. Is there a particular code for this or is it just Patek will offer as an alternative strap for the 5212?
