Seems like the fact that this was even brought up could be a HR or PR nightmare. These days anything and everything ends up in the internet so the fact that an employer notified a prospective employee that they passed of the candidate's vehicle is ridiculous.

Seems really unsual and it probably wasn't the only reason your ex didn't get the job. Just my two cents

Have to agree - and if the story holds then the interviewer wasn’t fit to being doing the interview in the first place.

Personally? I would never want to work somewhere where they decided my worth based upon the watch I wore or the car I drove to get there...
