I vote for the classic black. The JC is a little too “gimmicky” for me. I’m also not a fan of the green text.

I guess I have the ‘mk 1’ black

I’ve always wanted the JC blue but sometimes I don’t...... at all after seeing one in person

@daz4311 how big is your wrist ?

I'd pounce on the blue dial - but man it would be too chunky on my wrist.

Such a cool watch !

Agreed. The placement of the seven lines of script on the black dial version is perfect.

I love the black. It's my next watch. The blue is very nice and a bit different in a good way but the black just does it for me.

Only one way to go imho, JC!
Black dial is nice too but the blue gradient dial is really nice

What'd you end up doing? Can't go wrong with either, it's truly personal, and I understand the allure to the simplicity and rugged nature of the all black dial. Cheers.

I was in no way interested in buying a watch w a blue face, but when you try on the JC, it is really STUNNING. It’s also really not as massive as it is played up to be.

I had a black SD43 previously, and I loved the size and red type- but after getting this, there is no time I would choose the SD43 over the JC...

(except maybe when golfing bc those extra grams do matter in swing speed!)

I own the JC 116660 and thought that the GD price went way down after the 126660 was released. Even though I have no plans to sell it, glad to see that its worth more than when I bought it from DavidSW (just checked and was surprised).

As to the size, 44 mm means little, it is THICK. I like the story of the watch, but probably should have bought a BLNR even though I have no use for the date/cyclops. Wish they'd make the no date sub (124060) in PM so I wouldn't have to check a watch forum daily and just live happily ever after.

OP, its all about your personal preference of course, but the JC appealed more to me if you're taking a poll.

Rare, not rare, who cares. With the Deep Blue you have one of the most truly awesome and unique timepieces ever...

I got the JC after previously owning a black dial 116660.
Don't hate on me here but the blue dial is a TINY bit garish. It doesn't come off as classy and versatile as the black dial and consequently I'm not 100% bonded with it.

A DSSD can't be fairly described as understated regardless but the black helped to mitigate that. Someone above described the dial as "gimmicky" and it sort of is really. It's cool and looks amazing in photos but it wears with a very weird vibe compared to the 5712 and 228206 in my current rotation.

Don't get me wrong...I think I like it! And it's a very cool piece! But it has to be said that it has a very different look/feel on the wrist than the black dial version. More than you will expect until you try both on.

I think it makes sense in my rotation to have the sporty flash of blue on the dial but if I was going to wear the DSSD as a daily I would seriously consider the black dial version.

I had the Black dial DSSD and there was a lot to like but ultimately I found the matt dial compared with the thick crystal meant the dial to me appeared dull, I now have the JC DSSD and the dial has the opposite effect, it really pops and for me looks stunning especially in different lighting conditions and makes the watch so more interesting. The JC DSSD is a magnificent watch but as is often the way will only get truly appreciated and loved when it’s discontinued.

If the deep blue is what you have been waiting for I wouldn’t settle for the black. If you have to wait a little longer for the deep blue you might as well. Either way they are both beautiful watches.

I received the D-Blue a couple of weeks ago . I have the SD43 so I wanted the blue to mix it up . It definitely is not in your face , it’s very subtle fades from deep blue to black . I don’t think color wise it screams out , look at me . Maybe only the size might attract attention . I love my SD duo .

I would agree with some of the others. Black all the way. Classic look, classic style. JC seems a little gimmicky to me. Black is absolutely stunning in person.

Does it make sense to think of it this way. Would you like the JC dial on the sub or the classic black?

The black is stunning too, but you can get it on the sub and SD. The DSSD JC is soooo unique and man the dial is amazing
