I am gonna say fake. There is something weird about how the three gold dials are sitting on the white dial. Does not seem flush.

Also I don't like the actual white color of the dial...but what do I know..

Well it's quite difficult to decide it from here... but it seems ok for me...the finish of the watch is as good as real...maybe if you can get the picture of the waranty paper, it would help a little bit...

Looks authentic to me for a newer watch with the Rolex in-house movement. The chrono registers are centred above the 3:00 - 9:00 equator and spaced the right distance from the outer edge of the dial, the seconds subdial is at 6:00, and the hands look to be the correct shape and length. Those are the most usual flaws in fake Daytona's aside from the engraved or clear caseback.

Hard to tell from the pictures but on a real Daytona, the centers of the 2 small dials sits slightly above the center of the watch. So if you were to lay a ruler across the 9pm and 3 pm marks, the centers of the 2 small dials will not allign with the ruler.

Also, this watch has "seconds" markings whilst the real Daytona has "minutes" markings.

Good Luck!

I just posted this thread so that evrybody observe the watch vry vry carefully n verify if there's a flaw or if its original?
As this would help evryone to know the finest details which should be verified to confirm the watch is real or authentic if purchasing online and no body gets ripped of his hard earned money as nowadays many SS Daytonas are coming for sale on fleabay and I've seen many with gr8 standing n feedbacks bidding on the fake watches and surely they are going to be ripped
So you all guys scrutinize the pics more carefully and say if its real or not?
I own a daytona so I've figured out what it is but I would appreciate if others come up with their thoughts for the most sought Rolex SS Daytona.
The purpose is just that each of us know the minutest detail so no body of us would ever get ripped off our hard earned money if ever we purchase online

That feature is much prominent in pics that the centre of subdials is high above the centre of hour hand.
Also I didn't get your next fact abt the seconds n minute marking
The real daytona have this kind of subdial markings only

Well Al thnx for your response but the flaw you mentioned is much obvious and is vry apparent just veiwing a fake, so I would request you to observe the pic more carefully n think abt it more n say abt the watch is real or fake?

Hi Ashu,

Correct me if I'm wrong... Should Daytona have a twinlock instead of trilock crown?

Regards,

I am no expert with this model, but the laser coronet etching on the crystal looks suspect to me. It appears to be too visible. These etchings are usually very difficult to photograph and generally are only invisible with oblique light and a 10 power loupe.

I'm gonna guess it's fake for a couple reasons:

1. the rolex crown etching on the crystal is a little too clearly visible in one of those pics

2. I've noticed on genuine Rolex watches that the lugs should extend a bit further than the SEL and on all the replicas I've seen so far(I've seen alot) the lugs and the SEL line up pretty evenly, like the one in the pic appears to.

Also, the center link on the SEL is bulkier on the fakes and more flush on the genuine watch bands, so looking at the very 1st picture again makes me think it's a fake.

Hello there

New Daytonas are not my thing, but what I did notice is that the 5 minute markers seem to be a little too fat for my liking.

Also the printing on the dial looks a little off, especially the word PERPETUAL.

Mike has a minty one. Hopefully he will set you right.

Good luck.

John.

I would have to say its a fake because you are asking us to guess if its real or not Psychologically speaking if someone is asking you to gues it if it is fake or not more than likely they are testing you on how good you are in spotting a fake one....do you guys know what I mean or maybe....anyways just my 2c.

The hour markers are hideously obese and the watch stinks of tat to me.

Yes the hour markers look wrong to me and the coronet on the crystal looks like the fakes i've seen, the tips of the crown are too pointy - although I will admit it is hard to tell from that picture. The Daytona in red looks weird to me too. I am going to say it is fake with the fact that without more pictures, I would not say with 100% certainty. If it is indeed fake, it is a bugger of a good one that only the most distinguishing eye would likely catch.

I'd like to know why a photo of the caseback wasn't taken.

The counterfeits usually have the Rolex-24 engraving on the caseback. A true indicator of a Folex.

All else considered, that fake is really well done! I used to own a Folex whitedialed Daytona. Mine was a little more obvious than this one. Besides the engraced caseback on mine, other things that gave mine away was the minute hand was shorter than the minute hand on a real Rolex, as well, the marker's were rather "squarish", the lume on the marker's was finished, and between 12 and 1, four black minute marker's were not painted on the dial!

Well you guys spotted few things right that the hour markers are little bit fat, the lug are little bit short and also the SEL center link is protruding more. Gr8 work but still very obvious thing if you compare is very different from genuine which would surely tell you its not genuine.
Thnx for your response n interest, gr8.

Exactly it was scary to me too when I first saw this watch listing. Its one of the best fakes that can fool even people who know rolexes pretty well.

The Oyster Perpetual is not correct. Look at where the "P" lines up under the ROLEX, on both models. One is offset, somewhat. Nice thread.
