what's Fortis like as a watch brand?
cut a long story short - I have been looking for a White dial watch with blue hands on strap lately. Looked at Longines Master collection and Cloud de Paris and Barum et Mercier Classima watches lately.
So I was in central london the other day and saw this Fortis B-42 Marine Master Day Date White face with baby blue seconds hand watch on black lesther strap, tried it on and it kinds smiled at me. I'm pretty sure it has some sort of ETA movement and that all I know about it. Anyone here own a Fortis and what are they like. I'm not trying to compare it to the Rolexes. I just want a decent looking casual leather strap automatic watch. Thanks. Ps - posting it from the iPod so cant attatch pix...... |

Fortis is very good value for money !
ETA inside. If you like it there is no reason not to buy.

I own a Fortis. They are AMAZING watches, very very rugged, solid, hefty and just absolutely well made in general. Have herd some complain for the Quality Control on some brand new ones a while back but have never had an issue with my B-42 Cosmonaut bought in early 2006. A great all around watch, and as stated above has the time proven, ETA movement inside that any competant watch maker can repair. You will never regret buying one of these, believe me! The watch you want has a good feature, a full SuperLuminova dial and it can fill a room with light when fully charged:

Good value tool watches - in some ways the ideal beater. Here's one of mine just after I swapped straps... http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=87377

Yeah, it is very nice on the bracelet. You can always buy one after though (forget the cost of one). If you really get into it you can go as far as getting the Cosmonaut set for it (nice to travel with and store spare straps and the tool): From - creativewatch.co.uk The Fortis AD here sells those, you customize what you get in it. So if your watch comes wiht metal you can get a velcro strap (the ones that go over the space suits) and the leather / rubber etc whatever they have |

Fortis are awesome for the money, I have owned a few and i can't fault them, well made, high quality finish and a great price, can't go wrong although the 2nd hand price is a much better proposition than buying brand new as they do seem to lose a lot of value quite quickly.

Hmmm
I will have to look into the white face one (for some reason I seem to recall it was too big for me but I could be thinking of something else.) I love watches with KILLER lume to wear when I camp and hunt so if I wake I can see the time without a light or fiddling around. I want the Fortis I.Q. Goofy yet cool and unique watch. |
