I don't know about the new math, but my 1980's skool math says that's nowhere near double.
i was assuming the comments were generally about the m4/m4cs not necessarily the m4 csl (since no one here has a csl). at 140k though i can't imagine anyone buys that over a porsche. 140k for a bmw m4 seems like a complete finesse lol

Maybe that one is better... wasn't available for me to drive. I drove a "regular" X5 M, not the Competition. I have no idea what the difference is.

All of this started because I said that BMW has lost their way. In the era of 1990ish-2005ish, BMW made cars that are focused pretty differently than what's offered today. I say that based on what I test drove vs what I've owned over the years. Enough money and anything is better!

That's the car in the OP's first post, M4 CSL.

I checked out a bmw dealer today. Apparently no csl models are available and all have been allocated…

The new M4 drives absolutely amazing! The looks is pretty polarizing, but the grill is starting to grow on me. It’s beautiful in other angles, especially the rear.

I grew up as a hardcore BMW enthusiast, and truthfully BMW has been passed by Mercedes the past few years. At the end of the day though, it’s by far the best car I’ve driven in its price bracket. The new 7 series looks pretty over the top also, but if you’ve seen what it’s like inside…. It’s the first time since early 2000s where it can actually compete with the S Class.

Ummmm a 992 GTS is around 200k……
You can still get a M4 at or close to MSRP.

80k is a lot different than 200k

**** just saw you guys were talking about the CSL M4. Yea that’s probably a 200k car too.

I didn’t like it at first.

But I now love the new grill.

M4 is a really great car.

I love sport SUV’s. I understand why you don’t. They are a bit of an oxymoron.

But I’m always looking for the best balance of it all. Imo, a sport SUV does that.

This one might very well be the exception to every rule, but it truly drives like a sports car. More like a car than an SUV actually. Faster than most any car in the road too.

It’s pretty crazy.

I find it hard on the eyes and large but many equate a larger kidney grill to a larger LV logo. And it signals you can’t miss it. BMW is just doing what people expect and want today.

But this is the only current M car I’d personally buy. A true successor to the previous M3 coupé and 1M.

This. I used to help out a friend who was a high end wholesaler and drove all sorts of high end cars. After BMW changed over to electric steering I thought the first few I drove had a mechanic defect with no road feel and occasional pulsation in the steering wheel until I realized it was every one.

I know a lot of people dislike the grill on the new models but I really like it.

Anyone on here have any of the new models? Share some pics and thoughts on the line in general.

(Any bmw pics are welcome)

My wife is getting a new 430i xdrive conv. She has no need of the M. I agree about the grill. I think it’s fantastic and the car is so much more modern than the stodgy old Mercedes C 300 conv my wife had been contemplating.

yeah i think if it's executed well it can make sense but it seems rare. the whole trend is what doesn't make sense to me because you have everyone trying to cash in on the hype and i just imagine most drive like crap because they're heavy or not balanced properly, and people actually fall for it because they just see high horsepower or whatever

although i've never driven them it seems like the urus, cayenne, and macan are the true exceptions in the sense that they give you the true sports car feel. honestly not surprised with porsche, they don't half ass anything and have their formula down. the x5m has great reviews but i don't know if i consider it in the same category of those 3. i would love to try some of these out one day and see what it's like though

And 'Sports Mode' only adds physical resistance, not any actual feel.

Lotus has never crossed my mind… I will look into it.

Porsche has always been a dream car of mine, But the models that interest me are in a different price range.

Very nice M4!

Something about it not being called a M3 as a coupe nowadays irks me though. It's like changing the 911 to the 912

We used to just call these station wagons/hatchbacks. I used to really like the Audi station wagons like the RS4 edition

I get what you’re saying. Love BMW M cars. The stock look never bothers me. There’s always aftermarket to address personal taste. But the price point of the CSL… I’d rather get the GT4 RS 10 times out of 10

Love the RS4. The RS6 avante is a bad ass.

But you are right.

This car pictured is more of a hatchback than an SUV. But love that it does it all. The urus was super similar in this regard.

I wanted a M3/M4, but when it was time to buy a new car I ended up with a 2022 M340i xDrive as I needed rear doors and the M3 would have been a bit over the top for my DD needs. Plus it was almost impossible to get one when I got mine and I got lucky with mine as is just arrived at the dealership the day before I popped in.

I did drive an m440i x drive. It was awesome. Really enjoyed it. If I do go the bmw route it will be an m4 x drive. I am going to look into the Porsche option as well.

One of my all time favorite cars and probably top wagon/hatch. The old Saab Viggens were cool too, but I could never get over the FWD and prefer the Audi AWD

both audi and lexus have giant grills that work and look great (imo). i don't know how bmw came out with those. i think it's the fact that they're split down the middle that makes it bad, if it was one whole piece and slightly wider+shorter i imagine it would look fine

I have been pondering the M4/M3. I have a 2021 C63 coupe and love the car. I love how xdrive is delivering power to the pavement.
