To safe the Submariner 116610 LN or not?

Hi folks,

I purchased the 116610 LN at retail in November 2019 as part of buying a DJ41 (which I love) but the submariner doesn't get much wrist time and in my hearts of hearts I am not in love with it like i am my DJ41, for some reason i feel the sub looks better when i see it out in the wild then it does on my own wrist...

My dilemma - the sub is in mint condition, I haven't worn much (especially with lockdown etc) whilst I am by no means a wealthy individual I dont need to sell the watch for funds and now with the watch discontinued I am thinking of putting the sub in a safe for 5-10+ years (I am 29 years old) in the hope it may rocket in value being one of the last 11661o LN produced and in mint condition.

What are your thoughts? Do you see the watch rocketing in value in the future or do you think this will remian/creep up at inflation pace?

Side note - I would then buy a hublot as my side piece (pre owned and yes i know the stigma around hublot but i love the black magic classic fusion)

Why not im sure it will only go up. In 20 or so years im sure it would have at least doubled in price.

Don’t do anything you might regret. I guarantee someday you’ll decide to start wearing it again so you will definitely want it to be there for you...

Sell it, buy stocks/bitcoin/property...any one of those will likely do better over time. A watch in a safe is like a bird in a cage.

You would need to think it through. If you sold it now, invested the proceeds, where would you be 5-10 years vs sitting on it hoping there is a substantial increase in value

This is another reason for wanting to put it in a safe, I do think as I get older the watch will suit me more..I also know I am most likely never going to be able to get a chance to buy this watch at retail again

This was once a real Rolex watch owners forum now its little more than a value forum, its a great shame today that Rolex watches are now thought of as little more than $$$$£££ object things. Once Rolex watches were bought to be worn and enjoyed hopefully in good health for many years but seems those days are now long gone.

Just wear it or sell it.
