Best source to set your watch from ?.

As title, where is the best source to get the most accurate current time.

Sounds like a daft question but I know tv stations could be bouncing off a few satellites before I see the time on my screen.

Where do you set your time from ?.

iPhone, I don't feel the need to have it set to the exact second. Nothing I do will be impacted if I am off by 30 secs.

Or nowadays, my G-Shock that gets its time updates from a radio signal

Check mine once or week or so with any reliable time source even my quartz diver is always within a few seconds a month. And today I would have thought no ones life is run to the absolute second. So a few seconds out either way out of 86400 seconds in a day does it really matter.

CABLE BOX ...Now days, anything connected to an external server has the most up to date time. U,S Naval Observatories are a thing of the past.

I just use the cable box or my cell phone. I don't even worry if it is off by up to a minute.

I don't keep them on a winder or anything, since they are stored at the bank except when I take one or two out. I have to set the time so often on them that being anal retentive about it would probably result in an eventual stroke.

I agree with you completely ---- I don't even set the dates on mine because I wear my watch for a day or two and then not wear it for a month .... and as far as accuracy of time, who really cares if it is a few secs ahead or behind...if I wanted an accurate timepiece, Rolex is on the bottom of the list...I would have gone with a cheap quartz watch ....

I set the date on my watches when I use them, but I stopped setting moon phase on my Glashutte.

I use the Emerald Time app on my phone. All though the clocks where I work are all coordinated so I suppose I could use them too, but since there's an app for that......

A clock updated by radio waves to an atomic clock in Frankfurt.

But it's only accurate to a second every one million years........ So I'm currently looking for something better

I notice that is about 6 seconds faster than the Naval clock, which itself is off about a half second from time.gov.

In any event, I'm not so concerned about having the exactly correct official time as much as I just like to have a reference to see how my watch is running. So any of these is OK with me so long as I'm using the same reference consistently.

You'd better find one quickly! If I ever have to wait a few seconds for you in a million years you'll hear from me!

I set mine with any clock that's around, sometimes I even set one whilst looking at another one of my mechanical watches. As long as I don't get late to school or my job I'm fine!
