There are several different levels of extractions, and for fully bony impacted teeth some sort of sedation is normal. Sounds like yours was an easy one.

Somewhat true, it is more difficult, and sometimes impossible, to get a patient completely numb if infection is present.

Wow I was reading this thread an everyone telling that they had problems with wisdom teeth! I really didn't know they can cause problems at 50/60
